(bionic) MIKES MAGIC

Postby Todd Rivers » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:32 pm

For those of you who dont already know, Mike is accomplishing something extroadinary.

Imagine being in a Poker tournament with 317,080 runners, and you were 7th!

Mike has been in the top 10 of the AFL Dream Team for most of the past few months and has been as high as 3rd.

I've been doing this for years and finished in the top 100 a few times and considered it an accomplishment.

Hats off to you Mike and good luck on the rest of the season, its already an awesome achievement.

Some stats:

After years of experience i averaged about 1900 pts per week (ppw) last year, each year you should improve barring major disaster by about 50 ppw
This year im averaging 1968 ppw.

Mikes team averages 2193 ppw!

There is a LARGE PRIZE at the end of this comp so dont wanna put too much pressure on MIke but.......GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!!!!

He was my opponent the week he was 3rd overall in the national comp.

I didn't even bother making trades or switching my captain.

When Mike puts his head to something he always does well be it poker or fantasy footy. He does a whole heap of research pre-season to pick the best team. The time he has put in will hopefully pay off come the end of the season.

Of course as a business owner where he gets the time I do not know....

You guys rock. Thanks for the good wishes, but shhhhh, we're trying to keep a lid on it!

:D

SuperCoach was my main aim, we have some cash leagues running there, so naturally that is where I put my energy pre season. I put the Dream Team together on a whim, 10 minutes max, but it is a lot of the same strategies. I think I had about 24 of the 30 players the same on both SC and DT teams at start of round 1. After Round 4 I was top 100 in both SC and DT so started to take DT seriously. Unfortunately this is when I made my worst trade of the year. Jobe Watson to Brett Stanton looked good on paper and I thought it might be the move that propelled me up the rankings but instead has been the source of much angst and frustration. That move cost me $100k and a trade and has since cost me around 300 points. I'm currently 248 points off the leader.

I busted out of my Eliminator match this week thanks to Gia's junk time.(He was on 31 at 3Q time and finished on 85....) so that means the only prize left up for grabs in this rather top heavy structure is the Toyota for 1st overall. I've taken some risks in the last few weeks that will either win it or loose it for me. I am the only player in the top 10 that has the Sandi/Ryder ruck combo. Almost all the others have Sandi/Cox. In the 7 or 8 rounds leading up to round 15, Ryder outscored Cox by about 20 points a game. Best case scenario for me is Cox averages 70 pts a game from here on in and Ryder keeps his 95 - 100 average going. Round 15 has left me a little shattered as Ryder gets a 66 and Cox gets 104......

4 trades left to cover injuries(anyone know whats up with Beau Waters?) My high risk unique players are Stanton, Ryder, Goodwin and Gilbert. Players I don't have and would like to see hit poor streaks: Cox, Gibbs, Judd, Scotland.

Giddyup!
If you ask me, Muhammed Ali in his prime was much better than anti lock brakes.

He's listed as test on the WCE.com website.

Hope he's ok, I've got him too :/
