Cows re-sign Nwiel Cwaig

Postby Des » Tue Aug 12, 2008 7:13 pm

NEIL Craig will become Adelaide's longest-serving coach after today extending his contract to the end of the 2011 AFL season.

Craig, who was under contract until the end of next season, will this weekend lead the Crows - against Essendon in Melbourne - for the 101st time.

Either in this year's final series or next year, he will overtake Gary Ayres' mark of 107 matches for the longest-serving coach of the Adelaide Football Club.

Adelaide chairman Bill Sanders today confirmed - as first reported in The Advertiser in June - that the Crows' board made its first offer of a contract extension to Craig eight weeks ago.

The deal took two months to negotiate as Craig kept coaching the Crows a major priority and club chief executive Steven Trigg was held up by hip surgery last month.

Craig said he not fussed on the issue of signing a new deal this year or next.

He also declared no club - not even the new Gold Coast franchise - has ever approached him to consider a move away from West Lakes since he took over from Ayres midway through 2004.

"It was fine by me either way," said Craig. "I've said before, it is really important to me that the Adelaide Football Club board be absolutely comfortable and confident in the person they have in this chair.

"The position is too important for any decision on the coach to be rushed."

Craig has a 62 per cent winning record in his 100 games as Adelaide coach.

---------------------------

3rd Worst decision ever by the Crows heirachy.

1. Not drafting Pavlich
2. Hiring Nwiel Cwaig
3. Hiring Robert Shaw

des, how can you say that hiring Neil Craig was a bad decision. finals every year, and 2 prelims, with a 60% winning average, which is better than any other current coach over their respective first 100 games.

i really hate crows supporters that get up the crows at every opportunity, when they exceed expectations of their list year after year.

anyone that thinks neil craig is a bad coach should piss off and support the power.

I'd rather have Neil than Mark.

Neil's never lost a GF by 119 points. Talk about having no Plan B.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

If you had a decent coach you guys would have had another Premiership by now.

He has wasted your list, and will continue to do so.

Nweil's never made a GF.

And no one would have gotten near Geelong on that day. Not even Brisbane at their best, or the 2000 Essendon team.

this is the biggest load of crap i have ever heard des

how many times in neil craig's 4 years of coaching have pretty much every media personality except for some die hard crows fans, tipped the crows to finish outside the top 8?

the answer is, EVERY YEAR

and from this around average list, we have consistently challenged for finals, and made prelims twice.

and we were a kick away from a grand final against west coast

so in other words des, you are wrong
