Sorry, how was that not clear from my post?

AJG wrote:@Robstar: they can still come in for new tires (although with a time penalty), its seems the rules regarding engine usage had more of an impact that you are referring to? Most of the pit to driver communications I heard near the end, while yes mentioning tyres, was mostly about 'Stay out of that 1 second turbulent zone' to stop the cars getting too hot and wearing the engine (and yes, tyres)... The rules limiting the number of engines have been around for a number of seasons now so taking it easier in the last quarter of the race when there is not much to gain is pretty much standard practice. My issue is where the first 3/4 of the race use to be full on especially with various fuel strategies in place, this race they where taking it easier from the start to look after the tyres. There was a pit communication to Button after only 10 or so laps to not push too hard so the tyres don't go off, which ment there was hardly a battle out on track with any real interest

Hopefully this was because these are new rules for this year and no one was exactly sure how well the tyres would hold on so they played it safe and with the data they got from the race they'll have a better idea of how hard they can work the tyres and future races will be more of a race, but if this is the way its going to be the rest of the season then i'll have a difficult time staying wake to watch it

Teams are already talking of implementing a mandatory 2-stop per race minimum rule. To increase the spectacle.

http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/formula-1-news/230208/teams-considering-mandatory-pit-stops/

Then Bernie came out to say the teams have no say over the rules and therefore no right to suggest.

My favourite quote:

That's right. The INMATES.

Of course I have. I just really don't think this is the correct context.

OK understood better now robstar. and agreed.

+1 AceLosesPants.

Certainly not the right context to use that statement in. Tad degrading to the teams. Also I think he's just plain wrong, of course the teams should have input. Granted not final say, but input certainly...

For AJG:

As promised, took me a little while to find.

Editorial promoting the idea of part-time Formula One Entries.
Some not too bad points in there, considering he's from a NASCAR background i believe.

Hahaha. Silly little Lewis....

Herald Sun wrote:UPDATE 1.14am: FORMER Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton was caught hoon driving and his car impounded tonight.

The English McLaren driver did a burnout with smoking tyres and a fishtail in a silver Mercedes along Lakeside Drive in front of a Victoria Police divisional van that pulled him over about 9.15pm.

Hamilton was visibly upset as his car was towed away.

He will also be fined.

In a statement, Hamilton said: "This evening, I was driving in an over-exuberant manner and, as a result, was stopped by the police."

"What I did was silly, and I want to apologise for it."

It's understood he told police he was worried the incident would dent his reputation.

"It would have been fair to say he was fairly disappointed," Sen-Constable Scott Woodford said.

The accident happened 50m from where La Porchetta founder Rocco Pantaleo was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to the Grand Prix yesterday.

A witness said the 2008 world Grand Prix champion tried to hide his face from spectators.

He said as he approached the driver, Hamilton slumped down and tried to hide.

"That's when I got there. He had his head between his legs. He looked like he was thinking 'oh my God, what the hell', " said the witness.

Hamilton will be charged by summons with improper use of a vehicle.

His car was impounded by the Traffic Management Unit.

The witness told the Herald Sun police ushered the star into the back of an unmarked police car for an interview.

"It was pretty cool to watch. He was hiding in his car," the witness said. "They (police) knew who he was."

The incident came just hours after Hamilton set the fastest lap in the second practice round at Albert Park.

Hamilton scorched around the track in 1minute 25.801 seconds, leaving other competitors in his wake.

The GP star had appeared confident and relaxed after the session when he appeared before media at Albert Park.

A spokesman for the Grand Prix would not comment last night and would not confirm if Hamilton would be available for the qualifying round today.

Hamilton was considered to be among the strongest competitors against Aussie favourite Mark Webber.

Mercedes-Benz in Australia spokesman David McCarthy last night refused to comment.

"We provide cars to the McLaren team as part of our contractual and engine-supply arrangements," he said.

Lewis Hamilton, 25, has just sacked his father, Anthony, as his manager. He had never missed a race with him since he was 10 years old.

Last year he lied to the race stewards over an on-track incident, which got him third place in the race, eventually confessing and being sanctioned by motorsport officials.

While i completely agree with you there Jo, the press overblows most offtrack issues, for Hamilton it would be Karma.

Let's not forget he flat out lied to the race stewards after last year's Australian Grand Prix about overtaking under yellow, instead of owning up taking a 30 second penalty.

Instead he crumbled like a little bitch, crying infront of the cameras and got a team manager fired, while he got off without major penalty.

The guy is a whiney little turd who has been coddled by Ron Dennis (probably where my initial dislike came from, he hasn't helped himself though) and given everything on a platter.

Yes, the dude can drive. But he is no champion. He's a dumbass. He's been caught speeding dangerously in France and Britain already and now this? I think he deserves the backlash for this one.

Fake edit: Wow, I guess I really don't like the guy. That comes off as really aggressive. Oh well. I stand by it.
