Ben I think the reason for ONE not showing the AFL live last night is that in the TV rights agreement 7 and 10 aren’t permitted to show any games on their digital channels ahead of analogue channels.

One is a HD channel, thus only HD TV's, or TV's with HD Set Top Boxes can view it.

Not everyone has HD, thus they have to show the footy on Ch10. It's part of the deal with the AFL.

What's OneHD like to those that have it? And what's their poker schedule? I heard they're getting like 12 hours a week.

Correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure Des is here. One is HD channel, but it is also being broadcast on normal digital too. So people with a normal set top box on a CRT telly can still see One, they cant get the high def digital channels.

It will happen that the footy will be shown on this channel and other stuff on the other channels, but not until the new broadcast rights are up (next year or the year after?). I can't wait for this to happen actually, as it will force WIN television (who currently broadcasts 7 and 10 in the riverland) to finally get off their arse and get us all the channels.

Happends every other country place where southern cross, prime and win are picking up the multi-channels of their affiliates, why not here?

Anyway, don't expect to see anything wildly innovative or different from the new TV deal. Channel 9 won't even bid for the rights, whichs means no massive bidding war and no incentive for ten and seven to do anything special or different.
