Re: Formula 1 2009
Do you really think Webber is unlucky or do you think that his bad management on his cars are a problem to ????
Who i think is Unlucky is Kimi a few Seasons ago , with so many DNF's and such a great start to a season before his badluck hit him and lost the whole championship by 2 points on the last round ......
I dont think Webber is that unlucky more his choices .... i mean Why would you pick BMW over Renault as a team ????

Unlucky. Also his engineers suck.

Wasn't that because he pushed it hard on the last few laps, instead of doing the safe thing and pitting? And his tyre blew?

Bit easy to say that in hindsight, that was before Renault were established as a gun team.

Re: Formula 1 2009
I think you will find that the Year he knocked back Renault was in 2005 ... The year Alonso took the championship and also a year after he came 4th in 2004 and showed a strong team !!
Webber once again made a bad choice but i suppose Williams weren't a bad team then but still Picked the wrong team !!
Webber might get rid of his bad luck when he can manage his car and stop destrying gearboxes , motors , manage his tyres properly and i suppose most importantly get rid of his tunnel vision and look on the road around him .....I would love to see Webber succeed as i love watching the Aussie at the top!!
His whole career cant be said as unlucky, When you don't manage your car properly and it fails its not unlucky its expected , yes he has had bad luck but a lot of his DNF are noones fault but his !!!

Nurgurgring 2003 when his engine let go? He almost certainly would've won that race. He's been pretty average for the last few seasons though, I can't see how he can justify his huge salary when Massa is getting the job done for less than half. He'll be out by season end if he doesn't improve his game. Ferrari want Alonso, which means either Raikkonen or Massa will have to go.

He was offered the choice between Williams and Renault in 2004. At the time Williams would've been the obvious choice as they were still a top three team back then with factory BMW support, and financial stability. Renault were still establishing themselves and not many people predicted they'd be right up there in 2005, and they were really only there because Ferrari and Williams dropped the ball, and Michelin developed a tyre that was miles better than the Bridgestone. Besides, he would've been up against Alonso and would've had his ass handed to him in much the same way Alonso served up Fisichella and destroyed the Italian's career.
I'm unusure about whether it's Webber's fault he continues to have bad luck. The way the cars have been in recent years it's virtually impossible to destroy the engines/gearboxes, etc. Red Bull have always tended to build fragile cars, they're designed by the same man who played a big part in designing the McLarens through-out the late nineties and early 2000s. They were fast, but fragile. So it isnt necessarily Webber's fault. He does seem to attact more than his fair share of accidents though, I think some can be attributed to that Aussie pig headed spirit in that he thinks he owns the road, and he'd rather see his opponent off the track before he gets past (think Turkey 2005 when he and Schumacher came together...two guys who refuse to yield a single inch).
Webber is good. I dont think he's championship potential but he should be able to win a race this season with the sort of car Red Bull have. Trick diffuser or not, this is a championship winning car. Vettel on the other hand is a future champion...in fact I might even go as far as backing him for this years championship. I expect Button will win the next couple of races, but once the other teams get their diffusers up to scratch, they'll challenge.

Re: Formula 1 2009
Awesome effort by Webber, and it gets better because, his car weighed in at 661.0kg compared to the two Brawns (Barrichello at 647.0, Button 644.0). What this means is that he'll be able to run longer than the Brawns during the first stint which is always an advantage assuming he can keep Barrichello and Button at bay through-out the first lap. Vettel on the same fuel load as Webber back in fourth will be a danger as well. But it's beautifully poised for Webber to win tomorrow. Either way I expect a Red Bull one-two finish. They really seem to be coming on strong now while Brawn are becoming increasingly vulnerable.
Great to see the McLarens in the top ten. It's been an awful season so hopefully we'll be able to salvage something out of this weekend. Sutil did a great effort to qualify in seventh ahead of both Ferraris, with a heavier car. \
Weather forecasts expect rain tomorrow which will add another element the teams and drivers will need to consider.

Re: Formula 1 2009
What will be really interesting is if Webber will ruin the car himself or get taken out by a car he is lapping instead of one he is one the same lap as
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
