i'm gonna guess that ONE isn't included in the ratings yet, so Ten would want to maximise the number of people watching Ten, so if they put the footy on ONE they lose viewers, ratings-wise.

Ten could've put the footy on One, and showed Love Actually, About a boy, bridget jones, or some other movie they've shown 40 times on Ten, costing them no more, and not having footy on 2 channels at diff stages.

you haven't given me any reasons to suggest otherwise. i would say that the ratings would be included on the new channel - if channel 10 don't know how many people are watching their channel, then they dont' know how much to charge for advertising

if you counted both channels, the total viewers would certainly increase. the hardcore footy fans would watch it live, and the casual watchers would watch it after the biggest loser. it seems logical to me

my solution to the problem would be to only have the footy on channel one, and then channel 10 can be freed up for anything they want. but i dont think the digital tv takeup is high enough for that yet. and you would get all those old people complaining that they can't afford a 50 buck set top box

you can't get ch1 with out digital tv - you can get it on standard definition digital, but not analogue tv.
