the afl MVP always goes to who the media say is the best player in the league at the time.

I wouldn't say "much" better. Judd played great footy when it counted in Carlton's wins and some of his solo efforts in individual quarters were amazing. Swan and Ablett were more in the spotlight this year but it's an insult to say it's a disgrace that he wins.

Its debatable whether you think the style of the game is better or worse to watch across era's, and that comes down to each persons opinion, but the above things that i mentioned can all be mentioned, and are simple facts about the modern game.

Back to this one, the game is definately not harder (not as in difficulty, but physical toughness) than it was back then, it is alot softer now because players can't get away with the hard knocks and rough play that used to occur. That is the big difference between now and then I think.....

It's not as hard in the sense that guys aren't poleaxing every second person but the speed of the game has picked up and when the hits do come they are hard as hell.

An insult to who exactly? Its just my opinion.

Chris Judd did not deserve the Brownlow Medal.

Hell, I reckon Luke Hodge had a better claim to it than Juddy.

sorry mate, but this is wrong. muzz is correct, you dont get belted behind the play anymore, but the collisions that occur in the modern game are, on average, much harder than say 30 years ago

sorry, i meant to say the AFL coaches association champion player award. (i agree with you about the player voted one)

i like this one the best, because it is voted on by the coaches who coached in the game, and they are obviously going to know who has the biggest impact on games.

Judd 100% deserved the Brownlow. Still the best player in the comp, just doesnt get as bigger media hype now hes at a mid-table side and not winning flags/playing in GF's like he was at West Coast and Swan/Ablett are now.
