Re: AFL 2012
It's May isn't it? Don't get too carried away, there's a long way to go. Injuries to key players do have a HUGE impact in today's "structure" driven games. Collngwood fell to pieces when Swan went down, Murphy is a huge hole to fill, but that's the way things go - its bad luck!

Re: AFL 2012
We won't talk about the Kangas
, but Adelaide are the real deal IMO. The only question is if they have the depth and/or legs to run out the season this year. Whatever happens, they look like a certain Top 4 for next season (Top 4 this year will substantially increase my bankroll
)
I still have a question mark on Essendon cause they started well last year and fell away. Against Richmond, the 2nd half could be the first signs of it, but we'll know more in the next month. Most likely finish 6-8 but no chance at Top 4 IMO.
Top 4 (Not in order) West Coast, Hawthorn, Adelaide, Coll
Top 8 (Not in order) Geelong, Fremantle, Sydney, Essendon (Carl & Nth only other hopes to make it).

Re: AFL 2012
Adel and ess def rolling right, but if jobe tweaks his knee again ( it was a knee problem for him last year wasn't it?)or if tippett goes missing then cracks appear.
It really is anyone's ball game this year, all your team needs to do us put it together at the END of the year.
P.S. I still don't rate the bombers as the team to beat, i can see them dropping their last 7 games straight if they have peaked too early. Time will tell though.

I thought this comment was relevant. Did you realise that Tippett didn't score a goal for the first 3 quarters on the weekend?? Most Crows fans were looking to him to fill the Walker gap, but it seems we have plenty of depth in the goal scoring department if needed....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

This - he had no influence on the Carlton game and kicked 3 junk time goals, and only kicked 1 goal against Geelong too

Re: AFL 2012
Adelaide should win their next 5 games after the bye. That would set us up for Top 4, for sure.
We have a 4 week block of WCE, Cats, Bombres & Freo, but 3 of 4 are at home. Jag 2 of these, and I'll be stoked (like i am having won 3 of this 5 week block we are in... I would've been happy with 1)

Re: AFL 2012
Adelaide have contributors all over the ground this year just like West Coast, hence, why they have been so consistent and that makes them very hard to stop.
Carlton have always relied on a handful of players and now with Murphy out, we'll see how they go in the coming weeks without him.
I think Essendon are similar to Carlton but have a few more contributors this year like Ryder who went missing last year.
Collingwood have surprised me as I thought the Malthouse/Buckley saga would still be around but it has seemed to have disappeared and have now won 4-5 in a row.

Re: AFL 2012
yeah i think some people in the media were hitting the panic buttons for collingwood, but their only losses have been to carlton and geelong who are obviously pretty decent teams
i like the look of essendon too
with both them and the crows, if you look through their team, the vast majority are younger players on the rise who you would expect to improve from last year, and coupled with that they both had pretty decent injury lists last year. that makes a pretty decent recipe for success, as long as they can stay healthy.
the crows depth looks pretty decent though, with people like symes and knights not even getting a game, and douglas (and until last week) vince still injured. and jenkins has been outstanding since coming into the team, i can see him keeping mckernan out of the team for a while yet.
