There is @ least 15 , 1st year players for other teams who are preforming better than the Crows 2/3 yearers.

well after the past few games, i am finding it harder and harder to disagree with you.

the only young players that i can see being genuine stars of the comp in the crows team at the moment are dangerfield (still too up and down at the moment, but not dissimilar to gibbs was), sloane, davis and tippett. other than that, i think jeansch is doing well, but in the past few weeks, mckernan, henderson, gunston, petrenko, luke thompson, cook, et al have been very disappointing.

feel sorry for scott thompson, he is a genuine gun and is basically trying to carry the midfield by himself at the moment.

In saying that, comparing the picks the Crows have had (number wise) compared to others - I would be surprised if there weren't 15 better players.

Past few weeks? Henderson has been terrible all season.

Side note: In the past 3 ND's, only 2 young players taken by Collingwood have been consistently playing (Sidebottom & Beams - 2009). They will be struggling in 3-4 years time.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

its the way the draft system works - every team should, with the proper list management, should have a window of 3-4 years where they make at least a prelim final, and then have a period where they are down the bottom.

in certain respects, adelaide had bucked that trend by playing 6 finals series in a row, possibly because they had 4 once in a generation players go through at the same time, but now it is catching up with them a bit.

problem for port and the crows is that with the draft concessions given to gold coast and GWS, its not really the time to be bottoming out.

tippett

I LOL'ed.

And Trishan, what do you think of Melksham (sic?) and Jetta? Both just run around like headless chooks and if they are in your best 22 I feel your lists talent does not run deep.

Well I am biased because I went to school with Melksham but I think he needs a few years to fully develop into a A-grade midfielder. I don't mind him in senior team even if he has some average games because it's all about the future.

As for Jetta - he has some good games every now and then. Thought he played well in the Dreamtime game with maybe a little extra motivation. Not sure he is in our best 22 once we get guys like Dempsey and Winderlich back. Another player that we're missing is Pears who certainly has shown potential.
