Steve there are 5 teams in adelaide eastside razorbacks, adelaide eagles, port adelaide spartans, south city chiefs and southern district oilers.
Games are played at the pines on saturday nights during the summer months. 5pm and 8 pm are kickoff times. Its not the nfl but the boys hit hard (my shoulders are proof) and its great entertainment.

Re: local sporting stars at npl
Well I had my semi final today, against the top team, Virginia. 1 vs 2. In all three of our previous encounters Virginia smashed us by something like 5 sets or more every game. Today...
...we lost by 3 games.
AND we were missing our no 3 lady (with her we would've won).
Had a bit of a tussle today, the team. Virginia's no 1 male (34yr old), is, to be frank, a tosser. Real arrogant bloke, swearing all the time, calling opponents bastards and such when they hit a good point, etc. Anyone that plays tennis knows that if the ball is heading out and you catch it, or impede the ball (on purpose) before it bounces, its the other teams point. Throughout the season, Virginia's no 1 had been catching the ball without any objection from our team. Well this was finals, and if he wants to cheat I'm pulling him up on it. So lo and behold, during our mens doubles I hit the ball out... way out. No 1 runs over and catches it mid-air. I object.
A small argument is had over the net before he calls me a smartass and throws the ball over (I was serving, we were down 40-0. We pulled back two points before losing the game). Next game he comes out serving... fast. Blazing them over the net.
"I'll serve how I want ya wanker"
"Its in your right man... go for it"
There was another issue with my teammate that was playing on another court, who, after having an argument with Virginia no 1 (I really need to learn his name), during our doubles, purposely yelled out while no 1 was serving. No 1 walks over to their court mid point, gets in my teammates face, words are exchanged. While I'll say that my teammate yelling out was wrong, no 1 didn't need to go and get in his face like that. No 1 is like 35... my teammate is only in his early 20s. He was basically shoving him over.
Anyway, at the end of our doubles match, we shook hands and agreed that everything should be left on the court. No 1 even admitted to me that I was right to speak up about him catching the ball, he was wrong. Which I knew anyway, but it was nice to hear him say it.
Ok, that's the end of my rant.
Now, our tennis prospects. Even though we lost today this was only week 1 of the finals, and we finished 2nd, so we have the double chance. We're playing Roseworthy next week for the right to play Virginia in the Grand Final. Here's hoping we win.

Re: local sporting stars at npl
Made my League debut last week in the 3B's. We lost 3-1, but the team had been relegated from Div 2 last season, so it's a good result.
This week, we play Salisbury Villa. Rough team, apparently. Let's see what happens.

I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Whats the quality / fitness level like Bacon... I used to be quite handy on the soccer field actually.
Originally a GK then made my way into a striker / right wing role with some success.
