Bombers have the wood on St. Kilda, it will be interesting to see how they go mid-season after the good teams click into gear.

I would definately be feeling upbeat though if I were you tho Trishan.

P.s.

So serious footy talk for a minute here. After Essendon blew them away yesterday there's been a lot of talk about the bubble bursting for St Kilda but I think people and the media in particular are blowing it waaaay out of proportion. St Kilda, even without Hayes, have a very strong team on paper and all it takes is a few wins (which they should do against Brisbane the next time they play) to build confidence and get back into form.

The odds for St Kilda to make the 8 is $2.50 which I think is particularly good value. Who else feels that their "demise" has been over exaggerated or are they really that bad.

I also think that the demise is overstated. I think essendon is a team that can pants a team by 10 goals, especially slower teams.

The saints JUST lost to Geelong (honourable loss), drew with the Tigers (who were up and about) on their less preferred MCG & Essendon seem to have their number and have a good head of steam up.

I think the BYE has come at the perfect time- reset, return to form.

Geez, I wish someone would slip that St Kilda schoolgirl a few bucks to hang around the Lexus centre.

Saints are definately on the slide for sure, but they are still better then most teams running around, the fear is they might miss the boat to turn it around, in a similar way Hawthorn did last year (slow start = too far behind the 8 ball and very little margin for error).

$2.50 does seem juicy - cant see richmond, port, bris, gc, north, melb, wce overtaking them - so if sydney or essendon or adelaide or freo or geel get the wobbles too it will be a good fight!

It is early days tho, with the increase in media coverage of AFL every little thing becomes 'the end of the world' these days, and the media beat the issue to death until the next team/coach/player is in trouble and the focus shifts to them.

Saints could be 2-1 if things went marginally different & they would be with Carlton, Hawthorn, Geelong, Swans, Freo, WB (& the slightly more untested Essendon) sitting pretty at the beginning of a long season.

I've generally been impressed with Carlton and I think this year things are falling into place, they have a good list and the right mentality which should serve them well.

Once we beat them next week rcon ;), I am expecting them to do well for the rest of the season. Based on current form they would beat Hawks and Bulldogs and possibly Geelong.

Bookies have them at 4th or 5th.
