i saw the incident berdych was referring to
he went to challenge a ball on the sideline, but for some reason hawk eye wasn't availible. apparently the shadow on half the court makes hawk eye stuff up sometimes.
they did a slomo live shot, and the ball was clearly in, so berdych was right in challenging, so it would have certainly been frustrating for him
after he lost that point, the wheels fell off a bit and he got smashed for the rest of the game
havign said that, i think hawk eye is a good thing. and instead of scrapping it because it doesn't work as well in situations where the light is variable, i think they should be working on the technology so that it can handle situations.
in either case, it is not intended as a replacement for linesmen or a chair umpire.

Re: Australian Open
Andy Murray lost, can't say I am surprised there. I am amazed the bookies had him as favourite, sure he was in good form in the lead up tournaments and did beat Rafa, but grand slams are a different story when you are playing best of 5 sets. How can you have Murray (who has only played one grand slam final, which he lost) as favourite when you have Rafa and Federer who have dominated the grand slams over the last few years, and Rafa hasn't even really peaked yet. Without a doubt Rafa should have been favourite in my opinion, and his games so far have probably backed that up, anyway Rafa ftw!

murray did beat federer 6 out of their last 7 encounters, so he has had good form against the top players for a while now.
but favourite, probably not. i hope federer wins, that was a gun match against berdych

to quote JJ & Pete, 'twas and awesome effort.Chelsea4thewin wrote:well done Dokic, awesome tournament
Love her or hate her, you've got to give her credit for the off-season work she has done. How much better would women's tennis be if more of the players outside the top 5 followed her example?Chelsea4thewin wrote:i dont know why but i just hate that Safina

yeah mate, she is - she moved out from yugoslavia with her dad when she was like 15.
then her dad, who is a fkn fruitcake, cracked the shits one time because dokic had to play the number 1 early in the australian open (lindsay daverport at the time i think), and he said that it was rigged against dokic, and made her go back and play for serbia.
eventually, she told her dad to get stuffed, and now she is back playing for australia.
great effort by jelena, especially since she came through qualifying to even get into this tournament, and she was ranked 181 in the world before the tourney. then to go out and beat 2 top 20 players, and take the number 3 in the world to 3 sets, just an awesome effort
