I understand that theory ive always been in favour of youth but right now we need to win this series. Hodge is so capable of bringing the Poms down, his form is well above the rest. This is the one time i would take this gamble if we are serious about getting back in the Ashes im sure he would give his best knowing it would be for this series only. If we fail in WA then bring on the youth khawaja, fergusson even Peter George, Time to win is now, rebuild and expose the young ones after we gamble on this test.

Hodge has RETIRED from sheffield shield cricket, so why the hell would he ever be considered for a test match? get informed people...

It's the same reason people are calling for Warnie to come back.*

Trapped in the past.

I am certain he will keep his spot, playing on his "home turf" of Perth will see him get given yet another chance. I would love to stand corrected next week however.

starting to think he will too, especially now that katich is out, meaning that they will make at least 3 changes.

WTF? someone said to me this morning Warne had been offered $1m for a comeback and I thought it must be a joke.

But Tim N is even talking about it like it might happen???? How much like England do we want to become? Bringing back aging stars and chopping and changing teams whenever there is a lack of instant success.

i saw that too, surely they wont be that stupid.

apparently steve smith has been doing well in the shield game, maybe he can come in and bat at 7 and replace North.

Fergusson on the way to a ton as well, so it will be interesting what the selectors will do.

they cant bring back warne - even if he is still the best spinner in australia, it is just not going to help anyone if he comes back.

I agree long term, but thinking of the here and now, we NEED to win the ashes back! Simple as that

think of the complete farce if warne comes in for the last test in sydney and he goes wicketless, or even worse bowls 15 overs and gets injured

But he isn't going to win the ashes back - he was at the height of his powers in 2005 and still couldn't do it on his own.

They wouldn't treat his bowling with any respect and that would reduce his effectiveness massively.
