Re: World Football Thread
Scott Jamieson got a fairly big wrap from Pim.
There was quite a bit of talking him up... didn't know he was at Bolton prior to the A-league though!
I do rate him as a player, but not to the extent they were talking about. But I'm probably biased because I get shirty if players do all the hard work and then can't cross the ball decently.
Love his work rate though, always one of the hardest working players out there.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: World Football Thread
Final round of the season in the A-League is this weekend.
Adelaide certainly have their work cut out for them if they want to win the league.
They must beat Central Coast by 2 goals or more (doesn't matter if it's 2-0 or 5-3 or whatever).
Melbourne currently are sitting in 1st place having already played their final match on Friday night against Wellington. I knew we couldn't rely on a team from New Zealand doing us any favours against Melbourne!
Looks like big Sasa is suspended for accumulating too many yellow cards and I read that Robbie Cornthwaite has had to take it extremely easy in training.
Given Adelaides 'ability' to just open the floodgates for the Central Coast and let in some goals (even when winning 3-0) it could be a very nerve wracking match.
Adelaides best hope seems to be if Central Coast decide to rest some players as they essentially have nothing to play for in this match. They have already been guaranteed 4th place courtesy of Wellington losing to Melbourne which gets them a spot in the finals and they can't move up any higher than that due to Queensland having already cemented at least 3rd place.
The match is LIVE on Fox Sports 1 at 6:30 (Adelaide time) on Sunday night.

Re: World Football Thread
Will be a very interesting match. Big sasha out will hurt us big time, and alemao is also out with a gron injury. However cassio, sarkies and pantelis are all back in so our midfield stocks are looking good.
A win is important, because if queensland beat perth tonight and we lose, then we won't even get a top two (and ACL) place.
Pete, as a fellow reds fan, do you think that our lack of a right back, (cornthwaite is carp there imo) and no other back up defender that we might go to a 3-5-2 with jamo as a wing back and cassio further forward?
Not quite sure who would play as a wind back on the right as im not sure that role suits dodd, but it will be interesting.
I think we will def have to go 4-4-2 instead of our normal 4-1-4-1, and i cant help thinking that this may be agostino's time to shine. He looked finally fit in his last outing and i hope that he finally extracts the digit and fires up. thoughts?

Re: World Football Thread
I think Cornthwaite needs a break to be honest, he's looked prety tired for awhile now. Definitely not an attacking right back, can't cross to save his life.
Jamieson *can* get a decent cross in, but often misses the target. I think he'll start at traditional left back and it will definitely be a back 4. Daniel Mullen will start at right back. Cornthwaite and Valkanis will be in central defence.
Costanzo will likely be at the back of a 4 man midfield (I called that prior to their last match against Wellington) and I expect to see Cassio on the left and Dodd on the right and again to see Paul Reid in a more advanced role in the middle.
Ago will start because he offers nothing for pace off the bench.
Hopefully Cristiano starts alongside him.
For the love of <insert fictional deity here> don't play Sarkies - he's useless.
I hope Barbiero doesn't play because he's the worst offender for misplaced passes and basically wastes so many forward moves.
Subs that make it onto the pitch will likely be Salley, Younis, and Pantellis.

Pete, do you have Fox?
Macca, finishing 2nd guarantees nothing. It's only the premier and the champion that get the ACL spots.
