Now he's probably the only player not get get a baggy green in a brown paper bag the second he debuted for New South Wales, but if i was Nathan Bracken, i would be annoyed.
He's the number one ranked one day bowler in the world, and he can't even get in the squad to go to india. Although he's done well, where the flying fudge did Peter Siddle come from. Before you reply with "victoria you idiot" i was speaking figuritively.
It certainly raised my eyebrow.
News is that taity may even be a shot for one or even both of the last two tests instead of (wait for it) Brett Lee. Now that would be an even bigger selection shock.

Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

mac, fair point. But bracken is injured, he didn't play in the ford ranger game. Dunno how long he's been out for though.

Bracken was speaking on Fox this week about the Australian selector's propensity to overlook him at the selection table. He did say that he would be having a meeting with the chairman of selectors when he returns from India.
I can't see Taity taking part in any of the remaining tests, though.

they won't change the squad for the upcoming tests, but surely both bracken and tait would be in contention for the australian summer.
if there were no injuries to worry about, siddle being picked ahead of bracken astounds me.
bracken is turning out like Michael bevan - could have been a great test player as well, but is being pigeon holed for no other reason but the depth that australia has had at the top level

Bevan did get 20(?) test, for an average of a tick under 30 I think - hardly setting the world on fire, and he did have that issue with the short stuff. I remember seeing him in Adelaide, and he just had no idea how to play a rising ball. Great ODI player tho.bennymacca wrote:bracken is turning out like Michael bevan - could have been a great test player as well,

I would have compared more so to people like Jamie Cox, Jamie Siddons, and to a lesser extent Darren Lehmann.
I wasn't sold on Nathan Bracken at the beginning, but now I am. Very intelligent bowler, and would have been good on the sub-continent.

lol @ Michael 'I should have won that ODI match 10 overs prior' Bevan.
He definitely *could* play, he often chose to do things the hard way though in my humble unknowing opinion.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Michael "It's more important that I'm still here in over 50 than actually providing any entertainment and scoring runs quickly" Bevan.
Only time I liked his play was a game where we were like 4/30, needing over 240 to win, and he won it for us. I had gotten onto a bus for an overnighter to Melbourne, and when I heard the radio in the morning that we'd won, I almost wet myself.

Funny though - we're drilled into us to value our wicket and how important it is to be there at the end.
All quite harsh on Bevo. Not my favourite player but still a good one.
