That is the case.
The laws are such a grey area at the moment. Everyone is waiting on the outcome of this case to see how it will affect things in the future.
Decision is now delayed to mid-July.

Sport
Poker is not merely a game of chance but also requires skill and is therefore legitimate competition, a municipal court in the district of Lyngby ruled Friday

Re: Poker, Sport or Game?
for me
Poker a Game of Skill and Chance
Chess a Game of Skill--muscle used the Mind.
If you can call the World Champion of Chess a SportsMan
you can then call the WSOP Champion a Sportsman also using his Brain to eliminating or mininmizing the luck/chance factor in his/her Game of Poker.
If Poker was a Sport why dont they play or apply to have it included in the Olympics ??

Re: Poker, Sport or Game?
olympics means nothing with regards to whether something is a sport or not. Australian Football isn't in the olympics, is that less of a sport than rythmic gymnastics?

Part of the skill in poker is making the element of chance work for you, over time.
