Ok, soccer example.

Matt Simon, 7 goals for central coast this season
John Aloisi, 1 goal for Sydney FU

Who would you rather have in your Australian team?

first of all neither would get a run

secondly, comparing soccer to cricket is like comparing apple and oranges

a century in cricket is more of an individual effort and is not an easy task, soccer on the other hand is a team game, Aloisi might not have scored 7 goals but he might of had a hand in setting up other goals

ok im gonna start talking about cricket, im entitled to my opinion and if u dont like it .....well bad luck :)

Ever heard of the following players? Darren Lehmann? Jamie Siddons? Even Hayden took a while to get his first crack at international level.

Remember there are only 11 main spots to fill & one thing the Australian selectors don't do is chop & change after 1 or 2 bad games.

Yes he will be considered but I can't see him playing in the test side for at least 2 years if at all.

steve, do you realise that chris rogers is second on the batting list this season? he averages 88 with the bat, wheras klinger averages 96, and they both have made 3 hundreds and 2 fifties.

hodge averages 43 and hussey averages 40 this season as well - both WELL above klingers long term average

so you my friend, are talking the bullcarp

steve, if you are going to have an opinion, at least make sure it is well informed. it doesn't have to be the same as everyone else's but at least make sure it isn't complete rubbish

HAHA, lets just say both posts were of equal goodness, and i agree that both are in fact correct. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly apologise to scott for wrongly, unknowingly and illinformingly quoting only my brothers quote, while ignoring scotts well written, succinct and awesomely constructed post. It won't happen again, very often. :D :D

Both Lehmann (bless his cotton socks) and Hayden had to wait ages to get into the side... if that's a guide then Klinger will have to both wait a long time and continue to score highly for as long as he has to wait.

Even if Symonds does poorly with the bat, he can still bowl pretty well and is clearly a gun fielder. The worst thing he could do is bat well and score a double century cos then he's guaranteed to be dropped (yes, I'm joking).
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
