I don't think there was much difference between the impact or the intention/negligence of the Goodes' or Burgoyne's bumps, to me both looked almost identical except for the resulting injury. Burgoyne's was just a non-intentional glancing blow too that appeared to have very little impact, when it happened I was shocked that Mitchell was unconscious after what appeared to be such minor contact. I don't have too much of a problem with the Goodes decision as it probably was only low impact and negligent but it's the inconsistencies (i.e. Burgoyne's three week suspension) that are annoying. Especially when you compare the records of the players, I can't remember Burgoyne going to the tribunal before, I can certainly remember Goodes having done so and each time he seems to get off
What's really annoying is that players will become hesitant to go into contested situations for fear of accidentally hitting someone high or causing injury and then getting a few weeks for it. It's a contact sport, these things are going to happen, suspensions should only be handed out for players intentionally or recklessly putting other players in danger. The Thunderbirds will be able to play AFL soon.
