I reckon the match review panel's decisions regular stump a lot of people.

I don't think there was much difference between the impact or the intention/negligence of the Goodes' or Burgoyne's bumps, to me both looked almost identical except for the resulting injury. Burgoyne's was just a non-intentional glancing blow too that appeared to have very little impact, when it happened I was shocked that Mitchell was unconscious after what appeared to be such minor contact. I don't have too much of a problem with the Goodes decision as it probably was only low impact and negligent but it's the inconsistencies (i.e. Burgoyne's three week suspension) that are annoying. Especially when you compare the records of the players, I can't remember Burgoyne going to the tribunal before, I can certainly remember Goodes having done so and each time he seems to get off :?

What's really annoying is that players will become hesitant to go into contested situations for fear of accidentally hitting someone high or causing injury and then getting a few weeks for it. It's a contact sport, these things are going to happen, suspensions should only be handed out for players intentionally or recklessly putting other players in danger. The Thunderbirds will be able to play AFL soon.

Players are already wary of being first to the contest for fear of getting pinged for holding the ball, and are now also wary of making any head high contact to a player who IS already over the ball.

Ahh, I can see it now ... future contests will involve a player from each team standing afew feet away from a static ball, staring at each other, not knowing what the hell to do :D

Don't get me started on holding the ball decisions! :x

How many times do you see the player who puts their body on the line to get in and get to the ball first get penalised while the opposition player sits on top of them and is actually the one holding the ball in.

Or....one that I really hate....a chasing player lays a great tackle from behind only to have the player they are chasing buckle their knees and fall forward and get the free kick for in the back, aaaargh, stop me now!

Kinda like playing Snap but the opposite, the player with their hand on top wins.

benny the cunt, I didn't include Burton, cos I felt that was a justified ban. He got him high, and got the weeks. Fair enough.

Burgoyne, 2 matches I would've thought was fair... it was unfortunate, but there is a duty of care.

Goodes' doesn't have a duty of care, it appears. 2 striking charges & a rough conduct charge in less than 2 years, and ZERO weeks suspension.

Murphy was legitimately going for the ball, he was stiff. Same way Russell got off from the hit on Stewart.. it was a footy collision in the heat of the game.

Dropping the knees is the blight on the game, the same thing that AFL supporters feel that football fans do about diving. The first offence was the "holding the ball", the push in the back is secondary, and as such unavoidable... if u are caught with the ball, GONE!

(I'm argumentative today, I got a stupid parking fine yesterday. Pete, you'd love the irony after speaking with Ian about how to get off them ;))
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Those were fines for not wearing a seat belt :)

Still pretty amusing though :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
