http://www.deadline.com/2010/10/weeds-e ... -showtime/They've kept Weeds on the air for 7 years, so I'm keen to at least check this out. But as the comments have said, scripted poker isn't as good as the real thing (Rounders notwithstanding).
Although I heard some okay things about Tilt, mebbe I need to check that out.

I think the target audience would be more for general public that poker players. I think we would most likely find it lame.
We should team up AK and write a script for a cool poker show that puts this one to shame.

Tilt was UK's Hustle mixed with Poker.
Whales will probably appeal to those that need their "Las Vegas" fix.
Debaucherous times in the city of sin kind of stuff.
Personally, i don't think a poker tv series would not really hold much interest on the general population. Two decent shows in the US have already been canned. Outlaw and Lonestar. Both getting good reviews and were fairly watchable.
They are just happy with the Reality shows, and the same formats. The Event is big because there is no more Lost. The Big Networks need 10 million a viewers a week to make it worthwhile for advertising. Makes it hard for new series to get any kind of a foothold.
