Also crowd feel as well. If they aren't getting the joke, change tactics. Crowds will be different each time. Uni crowds will laugh at a facebook/twitter joke, older business crowds probably wouldn't understand.
Though you could always say you got broken up over lamebook, before you saw the facebook.
Or twitter, 42 characters to end a 18 month relationship.
