WOW! What can I say! What a big weekend of poker!
For those of you that don't know: Daniel Booth won flight 4 of the SkyCity Satellites, and then continued with his great form to take down the main event! He played the two days like a seasoned pro, absolutely dominating the final table. And for his troubles he takes home a funky looking trophy and $85,000. Daniel is a 19 year old commerce student who works part time, but plays regularly at the Bombay Bicycle Club.
A special mention also to Andy Grantham, a regular at the Goodwood, who won Flight 3 and then finished 13th in the main event taking home $3440.
I would like to add that all of our qualifiers played in a field of 124 runners, containing some of the best players in Australian poker: Joe and Tony Hachem, Gary Benson, Josef Berec, Angie Italiano, Sarah Bilney and the godfather of aussie poker, Mel Judah.
Well done guys great work! Big Congratulations to Daniel! Keep him in mind, Daniel has a big poker future ahead of him.

Fantastic effort Daniel & Andy G, well done to both of you. I chatted to Andy on Sunday & he was absolutely buzzing. Of course he was stoked about the money, but the experience of playing in such a tournament was priceless. Just goes to show that NPL poker is about more than keyrings & drink vouchers. These guys got a chance to play in a sporting event against a World Champion and proved they've got what it takes to go the distance. I'm sure there's some poker pros who thought there was easy pickings at the tables with NPL qualifiers. Humble pie anyone?

Congratulations also to the TD's & TA's who see these guys regularly & offer help & advice on how to polish their poker skills to prepare them for such an event. It's a great result for all of us NPL staff too. Especially to Garth & Brock & co. for their efforts in co-ordinating & planning the whole promotion, a great reward for the time & effort you guys put in to make the NPL successful. Well done!!

congratulations to Daniel, with some great poker, to take out the sky city main event. Nice tournament summary of the NPL Players throughout the tournament. It just shows that it doesn't matter if you play in pubs or for cash at other places anyone that applies themself, can make it a long way. well done to all the NPL qualifiers, and i hope everyone had a positive experience from the event.
