Maybe Barossa Gawler if they behave themselves!!!! ;)

I am open to feedback on the above comments please.

ohh them's fighting words :o

with Darren B and Matty N as the TH/TA in the Barossa Gawler region we have arguably the best and most expierenced
venue hosts in the State. Barossa and Gawler Region have proabably the most passionate and dedicated players in the State and arguably some of the best and deserve more consideration[ monies]
. I personally think the muted formation of City regional leader Boards as a step forward. This would only enhance the a fore mentioned statements.. Using Regional playoffs and the winners qualifying toward State Final entry...Having 700-800 runners I think takes away the prestige of playing in the 'lottery 'of the State Finals.

Using only the Top three from each venue 140 x 3 = 420 runners plus Regional top three winners 15 X 3 45 gives 460 runner to win the monies.

I know its only tweaking the edges of the existing structure but being one of the State final masses dont quite feel as good as qualifying against others.

second food for thought '' have 3 x15 wk seasons or even 4 x 12 weeks seasons --- ( I know 50 weeks a year maximizes 'take' but a week respite for finals/ novelty events may be more desirable to the runners.

Hi there Bruce, nice to see your sticking up for your country boys. However I'm a bit amiss regarding you guys having the best TD's.

I'm sure we would all like to say we have the best but, what do you base your theory on????

Is a great TD based on how many tournaments they run in any given week?

Or, maybe it's how they encourage more players to come to their venues?

Or, is it how they can actually make their tournaments entertaining and enjoyable throughout the night? Especially on a final table!!

Is it because they post the results of a tourney ASAP, like that night or the next morning?

If any 2 or 3 of the above is any indication of a good TD then some of us are truely blessed with a great TD.

I won't embarrass the man but he knows who he is and I'm sure most guys and gals who play in the NE division are glad we have such a dedicated person working for NPL.

Take a bow M8

We have been running poker for almost three years now in Vic and even longer in NSW, many things have been trialled and the ten week season is the best in terms of the market and what the majority of players want.
So who else is for a smaller state final, I know the majority of poker players on this site would be, but realistically?

Ok so next season we will trial top 3 from each venue and top 20 from the State Leaderboard.
140 x 3= 420 + 20 = 440
Top 5 from each regional (either via leaderboard or final) = 5 x 12 = 60

500 qualifiers means about 400 players on the day.
Seriously, who is happy with this?
It probably will never happen until I can get Vic to agree with it, but there Finals only attract 400 max as it is now.

Definately not me Garth.

I like the system the way it is. It gives everyone a fair crack at making the finals one way or another.

Last season I finished in the top 5 at 3 venues plus a top 50 placing.

This allowed 3 other punters a chance to move into the top 5 and and were able to play in the finals.

This season I missed a few games due to illness and holidaying and finished poorly at most of my regular venues. But, hopefully due to the same process I may make it to the finals.

Finals over two days and some sideline specials sounds great if you can find a venue to swing it.

I think if you went to a top 3 some punters may drop out and not play the full 10 weeks if there wasn't any hope of placing in the top three.

Most of us play because we enjoy the company and it's a way of enjoyment and a little bit of bragging rights ,,,,,,,,, okay a lot of bragging

By the way, have you got any good news for me??????

As you say Garth, this is would not be an easy system to run because of the time required and the travel/overnight stay factors, but it would be a fantastic way to run the state finals.

now we are talking !!!

I agree top five a good system as is....

A "deepstack" State Final over two days ... hmm !! vote one from me...
could interstate/ invitational players participate .

The Aussie Millions/ State 1st ever finals weekend seemed to work well for those elligble to partake.

To benny the cunt, Darren & what's his name LOL.

I guess we are both very lucky to have good TD's and ATD's at our venues.

Realistically, it should be a NINE week season!

No extra seasons or anything, just a weeks break between the 9 week slogs for Garth et al to actually get something done without games to worry about!

yeah but the extra revenue generated by having an extra 5 weeks a year would outweigh the logistical issues - they could probably even afford to put on some extra staff if its an issue.

Edited: typed season, but meant year
