Wrong very wrong Des
It's better for a player to voice his/her concerns about a venue than just go and play somewhere else, nothing can be fixed if no one knows about it.
If the pub was my local NPL event at those rates I would not bother eating or drinking I would play with the initial stack go hard early, if I fail I go home, and if I double or tripple up then I'm good to go one and try for a the W.
Think about it this way if players dont spent money in the venue whats the point of the having poker, 2 things need to happen firstly the NPL marketing team need to speak with the venue about realistic stamping policy if they want the players to support the the venue, secondly the players should voice there concerns to the duty manager enough complaints and things may change.
Some venues have a $5 per stamp policy even this is too high a player has a minimum $40 spend to stamp up both cards, good venues is around $20 to fill both cards and then there's the B&G's buy 1 drink and get stamped up because the venue knows the the players spend money in the pokie room buy drinks and meals.
So jamo you made the correct call

i believe the venue is the one that can decide what they do in relation to stamping up, they are the ones that need to decide if making people spend that much on getting there cards stamped is profitable to them as a business
the bombay bicycle club have a similar policy that is clearly stated, all meals over $12 get 4 stamps only, this is mainly due to the fact the kitchen is fairly busy so i think they try get people to buy drinks over the bar instead of meals
Jamo, im sure the drinks are fine im guessing its just food
