Flap should be on the outside. Yes, it does look tidier against the wall, but when you pull upward and outward to tear off a piece you want the paper coming off at an angle to the rest of the roll for maximum tearage. If it's against the wall all you're doing is pulling more off when pulling.

I have avoided this topic because the last thing I need is people imagining what I am up to in the dunny and how I wipe my knick knacks...
But,
FLAP always to the outside...
Scruncher more than folding, but rolling more than scrunching..

Flap logic:
Who would want someone that has just finished groping at their bits and peices running their fingers against the wall trying to scrape up the little dangly bit of paper in their second attempt to clean themselves up??
Not me, how do we know there is no dingleberries on those fingernails?? Surely that is going to end up as marks on the wall for later cleaning.. Ewwwwwww

Roll logic:
You roll, there is no way fingers are breaking through.
