I should have just put it all on red in Vegas! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :x

How much do you have Lisa??
I may be keen to buy it off you for slightly better rates than the Aussie $$

I've been looking to deposit some cash into my US bank account but the banks kill you in transaction fees.

Thus way I can just send it in a card to a mate to deposit for me, so I already have cash when we head over.

you obviously are not a farmer or know anyone in agriculture trishian

this may be great news for you mate but its bloody terrible for our strugling farmers

( saying that we are in the middle of a bumper year)
but the bloody dollar being up so high is restricting the ability to really make some mooooney

I know krunchie - it's definitely bad for exporters. Personally it means a little extra $$$ when I deposit (seeing how frequently I deposit!) and more purchasing power. Interesting to read an article the other day about how people feel about it:
57% said high dollar was good, 20% bad and 22% unsure.
70% of under 30s though it was good but less than half of the over 70s though it was good
Uni educated and people in metro areas were more likely to think it was good
64% of Vics though it was favourable compared with 55 and 57 in NSW and QLD respectively.
Labor voters more thought it more favourable that Coalition supporters

interesting.

if, as a person, you are fiscally conservative, it is probably bad news, i.e liberal voters.

if you are a uni student, or a young person that likes to buy stuff and/or travel a lot, then it is great news.

kind of annoyed though, when i went to malaysia last year, the dollar was buying 2.5 ish ringgit, now it is buying nearly 3.1.

would have allowed me to buy lots more cheap ripoff merchandise :D

possibly travelling at the end of next year though, so hopefully the dollar stays high until then

Can I ask how you can associate fiscally conservative with Liberal views?

What the?

I think because Liberals are quick to bring up Labor's spending habits, for example on the NBN. Liberals, I think, consider themselves more conservative or prudent when it comes to spending.

In opposition this has been the picture the liberals want to portray, but anyone can look up the figures for themselves. If we went into a depression by not spending, we all know that our dollar wouldn't be as high and the libs would be arguing that they would have spent more.
