I could be throwing one into my garden if I decide to upgrade to a VOIP ADSL modem. Not sure why I would do that though if I could just buy an ATA for under $100?

This was the response I got from Hypernet. Interesting

ATAs are about the same size as a normal router and yes under $100. The main reason for going all in one is for support. If you have a VOIP issue, the ISP will be far better able to help you if you have something like the Billion as they can then tell you what settings in the router to change to improve the service or fix an issue such as perhaps echoing. I know Internode supports my friend very well with the Billion as that is a model they recommend with their service. If you have an ATA and develop a problem, you will likely experience more problems trying to get assistance sorting it out.

This was the ATA that Hypernet recommended. Can anyone comment on this? Is there any other comparison, or should I just buy it?

DVG-2101SP Price is $98 inc GST

The D-Link DVG-2101SP VoIP Telephone Adapter (TA) allows you to take advantage of your DSL/cable modem connection to make inexpensive Internet phone calls. It combines the industry’s latest Voice over IP network technology with advanced communication features, and is compatible with your industry-wise phone service. This VoIP TA connects you to an ordinary phone set to let you make phone calls.

Update for everyone on my NDSL with Adam
-Decided to borrow mate's ATA rather than buy an ATA or get a modem with VOIP capability
-Ordered NDSL around 9th Feb
-Was disconnected (without warning) from ADSL2+ on 12th Feb
-Have been notified that we wont get NDSL reconnected until 23rd Feb

The downtime is killing me!

downtime between the transfer does indeed suck

tell adam though, and they will reimburse you for that downtime

Yeah, they have applied a 14 day credit.

Not sure how it all works though as I paid for 1 month of ADSL2+ from 8th Feb-7th March, so not sure if that rolls over to my new NDSL as that costs more per month :?
