Game Start Times

Here's a thought, came to me last night cos of soccer training.

Weeknight games start at either 7.30 or 11.30.. What about having a 9.00 starter?

It could allow for those sporting types to have training, the family types to spend time with the family before heading out, and the early-outer types another venue to try to get to between games?

The 11.30 game means a late finish, and a tired bunny at work the next day. A 9.00 start would mean games finish about 12.30 and that isn't so bad.

I can see the logistics of an extra TD (cos a 7.30 could hold a 11.30 game).. but you could have a run of games.. EG on a Thursday

7.30 at Para Hills CC
9.00 at Studio 89
11.30 at Red Square
1.30 at Strathmore

I also see that a 9 start would mean that the venue doesn't get the revenue from meals, but it could get that same indrinks as a 11.30 starter (or more). It could also open up the area for more venues, with a dinner service finishing at 8, then the poker tables come out.

I heard that Ambassadors considered a later start, to match their end time closer to the start of a Strat 1.30 starter, wonder if other venues would consider it?

the willaston starts at 8pm

i like this, as it allows more time to have tea etc before poker starts.

they also do this because their meals area is always packed, so it makes sense not to crowd this with poker tables

i have another idea as well.

what about friday lunch time turbo tournaments?

i know a lot of people that have an extended lunch time on a friday afternoon (90 minutes or so), why not halve the blind levels and have a quick game?

the venue could put on lunch (sandwiches/party pies etc) and charge for this to get the cards stamped up.

then people could eat their lunch and play poker at the same time?

the big issue with this is that staff would only be doing a small shift, which would be bad for them.

i wonder how many runners something like this in the CDB would get? if i worked in the CBD i would definitely go

what do people think?

Yes, but imagine this situation... You are playing Friday at Payneham. You go out early, but you want to wait until the end of the first break to see if you get drawn out. So you are there until 8.30ish... You aren't pulled out, so you want to play elsewhere. Next game is at 11.30.

If the Windsor started at 9pm, you could pop up NE Road, and play there... Same deal, you get knocked out before 11, so you head back to Payneham.

You can't play 7.30 Payneham & 8.00 Windsor, but you could play 7.30 & 9.00 (if you were bad-beaten early)

to quicken the game even more, the starting stack could be 500 with cards getting you an extra 500?

I'll have a hand with anyone over lunch if you want. I doubt you'd get a tourney done in an hour/90 min though.

Plus most places are packed for Friday lunch.
