hey guys just curious as to what people think about the idea of having a heads up tourney with npl players and npl staff involved.
i really think this would be a great way to mix with the npl staff and maybe even learn some great heads up tips for future tourneys....
Anyways just throwing the idea out there....

It would - but heads up takes AGES - the amount of hands is just silly and you spend more time dealing/cutting than actually playing.

Especially at the speed some players shuffle.... seriously 2 minutes to shuffle a deck of cards is a joke.

maybe the prize club software can be used to conduct a proper heads up tourney rather than the sh*ts giggles one currently going on? wouldnt be that hard to create a new tournament in this software would it? set a proper date and time like any other npl event, but just hold it online?

sh*ts and giggles? ok man, so happy you said this online and not to my face, *biting my tongue*
you try and get everyone online at the same time
every has their regular venue... there is NPL poker on every night of the week, it is impossible to get everyone who wants to be involved online on at a specific time and date.
i.e. Me: I work days, play regular venues on tues and wed, and the occasional thurs game.
others will have regular games on mondays and fridays, someone else regulary plays saturdays
The first lot of heads up was always going to be a tester to see how things go, then things get tweaked to make it better for the next time.
As for the software... the NPL (Prizeclub) poker client isnt developed or maintained by the NPL as far as I know. It is a "skin" placed over existed poker software (in this case, Bluff) to make it look like an NPL product.
I tried to make the heads-up tournament something extra for people to play if they can. But with everyone on different schedules it makes things extremely hard.
Maybe I just wont do a season 2 of heads-up because obviously it isnt good enough for your high standards!

Re: WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF A HEADS UP TOURNEY WITH STAFF INVOLV
calm down des, i loved the heads up idea. thankyou for organising it.
what i meant was, maybe it could be made a bit more formal. i dont see the problem with having a scheduled time that it could be played. Saying its impossible to get everyone online at the same time is like saying "its impossible to get everyone at the state final(edit: insert teams event here) at the same day." the fact that its online is irrelevant, if people are available on that single day, then they play, if not, they dont.
i understand that this might not be possible with the software, as it is not managed by the NPL. all i was doing was suggesting a way of expanding the heads up games without having the time wasting problem of having to shuffle all the time.
i look forward to any new initiatives by the NPL,

Re: WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF A HEADS UP TOURNEY WITH STAFF INVOLV
sorry about my comment about the s*hits and giggles
it was meant as a throwaway line, meaning that it was purely for fun with nothing but pride on the line. i am not suggesting that it didnt take some time to organise or people didnt take it seriously.
i apologise if i was misinterpreted here.

Re: WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF A HEADS UP TOURNEY WITH STAFF INVOLV
calm down? lol, you should see me when i'm pissed off
How is getting everyone online at the same time irrational?
How would we get staff to be involved? They work nights. Most players work days.
I make it a specific date: e.g. Thursday... why should people who are pushing for top 5's or state leaderboards miss out playing heads up, just because I pick a Thursday?
As for the state finals comment.... LOLLOLOLOLOLLOLLOL
Of course people play states finals instead of their regular tourney on a Saturday or Sunday. Why? Because it's State Finals!!!!!!!
I'm going to leave this thread alone for a bit because once again its coming down that a lot of people here want a lot, and they want it for absolutely nothing.
In fact I was personally going to pay for a trophy for heads up champion.
But I don't think I'll bother now because it seems that any additional tournaments/games etc that are run are just not good enough for a lot of the people here

Re: WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF A HEADS UP TOURNEY WITH STAFF INVOLV
wow des, speaking of being rude.
all i was doing was suggesting a way of expanding the heads up format in a way that might get people to play more poker - not degrading the current competition that is currently played. (yes i got knocked out of it, no sour grapes if thats what your thinking)
people missed their regular venues for the teams event, what would be different to missing if for a heads up game or any other games that might be coming up? come on des.
i had no idea that there was any prizes attached to this heads up competition when i signed up and played my games. i wasnt expecting any prizes to be attached to any future tournaments.
can you please stop putting words in my mouth and saying that i want something for nothing. i have never mentioned anything about prizes, and i think that this is very rude.
u really need to lighten up a bit. i am here on this forum because i enjoy talking about poker and NPL, and i was trying to offer a solution to "rat on everyone's" idea about a heads up tournament. obviously he was not aware of the current competition that has been organised.
sorry i have offended you des and others, it was not my intention. obviously there has been others having a dig at you besides me, because im not sure i have deserved this des. i hope that i explained my situation, and i hope to meet you one day so we can have a beer and a laugh about it.
PS the comment about it being irrational i edited straight away because it was not an appropriate wording. sorry if you were offended by this
Edit: plenty of staff seemed to make themselves available for the teams event.
