NPL does a fantastic job, the only problems I have seen occur usually seem to revolve around inconsistency of the rules.
Two things I have seen recently;
First. Using passports when a player is knocked out and they are not filled out. Though this has been frowned upon, I still see this too often and its just wak. The only time its happened to ME, was copping a horrendous runner runner beat to get knocked out FIRST in a venue (that i went on to win overall ironically), then realising I hadnt filled my card up and was out. I didnt think of running to the bar, i took it like a man and ran off to tell the TD my horror bad beat story like a true NPL player!
Yet, time and time agian I have to deal with knocking someone out and then they have a totally empty card and run to the bar to fill it up , even holding up the game, and then back in... grrr. Even seen TDs agree to this (sometimes because the player might for example be an every night player). Just annoying.
Other thing i'd like clarified is the time to the break and when another hand should be played. I used to be that as long as the blinds were out then a hand is played before going to break. Very clear cut. Now i'm getting TDs saying nah go to break now when there is still a minute on the clock? well we dont want to do that so we get a cheap blind so we want to play. but no , told to go on a break. Which is it? you cant have iot both ways and many people were annoyed as half the table was off and other half wanted to play.
Oh and one thing that was bad initally but now better is TDs holding up the game (by pausing the break)cos of smoking! jesus! go kill yourself on your own watch!
please discuss.
