Online tournys - maximum players

I just got home from work and did a few things before sitting down in front of the computer (but that's still only 5 minutes after getting home from work) to register for the 7.30 game. The registration for the tournament had been open for 20 minutes yet there were already 60 players (15 minutes later and we have 75 players).

Can we please get the max player limit raised? Soon it will be all booked out within 10-15 minutes of it opening and for those like me that work we'll miss the opportunity. And because of work I can't play the midday or late tournament.

I do play the odd money tourny but I like to play the free ones - more points at the end of it.

the short answer is no - they 888pl dont want to do this, because they dont want the games to become more attractive to play than the pub games.

and they dont want massive points as well.

Answers have been delivered in several other threads.

The short answer is no.

There is discussion about this in another thread (cant find it to link for you) but in a nutshell, more players means more points for the top 15, and they dont want to give online players such a big advantage over the invenue players (points is based on the number of entrants, remember?).
There are various ideas about how to improve this situation being discussed/considered is what I remember from the other thread I mentioned.

[Edit, SNAP! simultaneous responses! lol]

I think most agree here that it would be silly for the 888pl to make home games more attractive than away games BUT, what is it about these games that make them more attractive?

Is it simply that increased numbers in any game will mean more opportunity for the casual punter to play a game or two? (cos this is a good thing imo and is what they should be looking for)

Or is it that increased numbers would mean that big points chasers stay home to play these instead of going out? (this = bad for 888pl)

I think the second one is more of concern for 888pl, and i think that adding lots of extra events (e.g. the pre-game stretch and rebuy games) have helped more people become exposed to 888pl, but if 888pl want more of the "casual punter" demographic to play and deposit on 888 then scheduling lots of smaller number games (i.e. multiple freerolls) in preferred timeslots is the way to go.

Could extra games in "prime-time" slots be trailed for a season (e.g. season one next year) to see exactly what the impact on numbers will be??

Use this season as the benchmark and then determine quantitatively whether more freerolls during "prime time" affects numbers going to pubs and total numbers.

once you stop players going to pubs, you won't get them back again

i think the way to go is to have more games such as SNGs - these definitely cater for the casual player as much as a big freeroll does.

i have mentioned this to garth already, but i reckon a SNG leaderobard would be awesome.

Only 24 hours in a day gents and my days are pretty full up right now.

There are many things we are looking at, and you can all speculate as much as you want, but the competition will progress and evolve, just not as dramatically or quickly as you impatient pricks want.

The one thing holding us back and probably the biggest obstacle is the software issues right now and not having complete control of back end software and the delay in automating a lot of the processes involved in day to day operations.

So there will generally be a six month lag in evolution as we build back end and management systems that can comply with our requirements and future needs as well as create more effecient business practices.

Once this is achieved we progress further with the development and tweaking of the league.

Right now a six week period is not long enough to compile sufficient data to direct the movements and evolution of our competition/tournament structures and the requirements of our players and clients.
