Oh Captain our Captain

Sorry but I have to ask...
(Hopefully this has not been bought up before, if so please feel free to delete this thread, or let me know and I can do so....)

But......

Who thought of calling our TD's Captains??? :o :?

It is absolutely horrid.

Why mess with a perfectly awesome title such as Tournament Director? or Tournament Assistant?
It feels as if it is in following a term set down by the Americans. I figure I personally have taken on all these new changes with excitement and anticipation... but OMG, can't we just phulleeeze remove the Captain title??

Maybe I am alone with these thoughts???
Comments anyone?

captain is very much an australian/british thing, you dont here too much about captains in the US

i think they are doing it to try and make it more sport like - cf afl analogy, with home and away games and semi and grand finals and captains

nothing to do with the us i think - and i don't really mind the analogy

Which planet have you been visiting lately benny the cunt, you dont too much about captains in the US.

Well Hello
American Football (gridiron) have 3 captains
Basketball
Ice Hockey
Baseball
plus every other sport the play has a captain.

So at Berri deepstack Tim will be the Captain others will be Vice Captains and so on, will Nathan be the central umpire and Dakota the Boundary Umpire

Not a real fan of tournment staff being called captains, why not become politicaly correct and call then Facilitators.

I'm sorry to say that in my opinion this has to go down as one of the most STUPIDEST ideas that NPL come 888 have ever introduced.

I've always seen a captain as a leader of a team not a friggin adjudicator of the rules and a payed representative of the controlling body.

Although poker appears to be accepted as a game of skill and in some way can be a test of ones stamina when relating to 10 hour sessions in major tounaments. It doesn't warrant an employee to be given the status of captain.

When we had the team event at the Palais then a captain or spokesperson for that team was selected.

I can't see how even the TD's can feel comfortable with this tag!!!

It seems the term is here to stay.
Fair enough, it is 888PL's right to name who they want when they want.

I can't help but think it is a silly term.
Sorry to say that.
