I agree with ya Cougar - especially with the subbing of points !!!

When you look at percentage of final tables and top 15s made of some compared to others it is all over the shop as the system is rewarding the every night player and day player at the moment !!!

Maybe look at 2 forms of qualification maybe - still with a minimum of say 25 games !!!

Form 1 as is for all the real diehards say a top 40 !!!

Form 2 with people who have played @ least 25 games with no subbing saying a top 20 !!!

10 more people to qualify !!!

Question from Left Table ??

Players from Small venues vs Larger Venues

Case presented --->

player one plays say three venues/games per week at small / low points venues-- 40players or less .Said player makes points in 50% of games played plays over 25 games.

player two plays three venues/games at large venues over 60 players also averages over 50% of games in the points. who would place higher in State Final 50 ??

I like the idea of rewarding the many game players a one in five game bonus calculation as I see it it would lead to a situation where your best 25 games would count in the calculation to the State Final 50. Why a top 50--- why not a Top 100 it seems a Ego thing. ---

if as I assume / did not know the top 50 qualifiy automatically for the State Final.

a Top 100 would have many venue Leaders / top five players in it the cut offs for the venues qualifers finals could be adjusted to rejig the Finals Event.

The Teams Challenges Event a great intiative ( also the Dekota Bounty Game ) how about an Invitational Event it could included the State top 100 vs Others ??? // perhaps venue leaders or a Regional /Venues Challenge---- A NPL venue may think it a Good Idea as a Supplement to its regular NPL Seasons Event !!

I think that the system isn't perfect, BUT, I would wait until the end of the season to see what it's like.

It would be interesting to compile a top 50 players list with the old system and compare that to how it's like now.

My guess is no more than 5 people would drop out, and 5 would come in.

My other guess is that people higher up in the top 50 might have been lower in the old system.

I'd be interested to see how many of the top 50 at the end of the season were top 5 at a venue (or even multiple venues).

Also how often they placed over how many games they played (ie: 20 placings from 60 games = 33.33%), and perhaps see how different the top 50 would look if re-sorted that way.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

how about the new people starting out it might take them 25 games to learn how to play and not even place once, but the next 25 they might place the place 20 out of 25 times. thats means they only can use 5 out of the 25 games to help there ave by the cougar way.

see this would make a new player play like 125 games to a 1/2 gd ave.

I think the bigger venues have enough of an advantage.

Another example would be:

If a player came first every week this season at my local venue (10 weeks) their average would still only be 37.3. Currently 50th place is on 34.55. Not taking into account playing 15 other games at other venues (All venues in my area have similar crowds) they would be holding onto their spot by barely 2 points and with the benchmark going up would surely dip below 50th.

I am not complaining about the system I just wouldn't want it skewed any more towards the bigger venues.

Maybe we could have the top 25 from the city and the top 25 from the country.
