Only 9 people qualified from Seaford Hotel (2 nights I gather).. maybe Steve can have one of those.

Curious as to why one person didn't make it down there. Do they only get 4 runners on a certain night? LOL

Ok I don't know how I missed this and I hope I'm not wrong but I actually think I am through - legitimately.

Going by Des's list John Foucos qualified at the Payneham on Friday night 11:30. When you take out the State leaders etc I work him out to be 5th with 172 points. I am 6th with 171 or so. Looking at the board for the Royal Hotel (Kent Town) on Wednesday he is 8th. Above him are 2 State Leader qualifiers (Kon Koroneos and Ron Pawluk) and also Nathan Weckert who qualifies higher at the Hotel Royal (Torrensville). This means John Foucos is 5th at the Royal Hotel with 222 points. Therefore he should go through at the Royal where he has more points, not the Payneham which means I go through at the Payneham! :D

Confused yet? I am. All I hope is that I haven't made a stupid blunder as I have in the past (refer earlier this thread  )
All you leaderboard whizzes that work this stuff out in your sleep please check for me and give me the good or bad news.

And as for going through as reigning champion I have given it much thought and I don't think it would be right, purely because the rule would be coming in after the fact. If I happened to do well again then there may be some animosity from people who missed out on cash by my presence which I wouldn't want. I think it is a good idea and the champ should get auto entry but if Garth and the team go that way it should start from next season. So if I don't make it at the Payneham then I'll just have to go and cheer you all on!

Sounds just like the Liverpool ruling eh? :)

I'd love for you to be in the finals this time Steve, just pray you don't sit at my table and this time it's me holding Q9 cos it'll be on :D
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Shouldn't we have all received emails/sms's by now anyway? I got my sms the other day.

Yea I know everyone has there sms's but my name isn't on the list so I wouldn't expect an sms anyway. I think a mistake has been made but maybe it's me that's mistaken. I'm sure it'll get cleared up one way or the other when Garth reads.

My understanding of the qualification process is that a player will qualify from their highest venue placing, BEFORE other people are taken off other leaderboards. For instance if a player finishes 5th somewhere, and 6th at another venue. At the venue where he/she finishes 6th, there happens to be 5 players who qualify elsewhere (top 50 or other leaderboards). Although that player has been moved up to second on that leaderboard, i believe they still qualify from their 5th placing.

(this is what i understand from previous discussion anyway)

The 'most points' rules would only come into force if the player had finished 5th at both venues before people were removed/shifted from various leaderboards.

I think this is the case, but im happy to be corrected, its a little bit confuzzlement at times

'top 50' gets taken out of the top 5's first, then you have a look where you sit after that.

I'll be happy to correct you since if you were correct I wouldn't have made it to state finals, yet I did :)

A player's "position" on a leaderboard is calculated once other people have been removed, so in this case if someone finishes 6th and the top 5 above them all qualify from top 50 then in terms of state finals qualification they actually finished "first" and would then be removed from any other leaderboards where they finished second or lower, or finished first with less points. Hopefully we have finally figured it out :?

To clarify Steve's statement:

I spent over two hours manually working it out with leaderboards from start to finish.

We did discover this one anomaly. It seems the person that finished 5th at the Payneham (that's once the qualifiers were removed) also finished 5th at the Royal.

Now the program just slotted him in at 5th at the Payneham and when it got to the Royal just removed him from 5th, points where not considered for this position.

So in reality John Foucos should have qualified through Royal not Payneham and Steve get's bumped up again and qualifies.

If anyone wishes to discuss this with me or dispute it I can show you the spreadsheets.
