I assume you also want to change the qualification process as well, then.

Well Scotty once again I'm so glad you have read the whole thing (my assumption not yours) and have only found one section that you are querying. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing so I'll try and answer you as best I can.

Firstly, let me say that there is no "WANT" in my suggestion Scotty as it's just an IDEA to be bandied around on the Forum and maybe NPL could use it sometime in the future with a bit of fine tuning who knows.

I haven't said anywhere that I think your proposal is a bad idea, Bob. Not picking at it at all. I just wasn't sure if you realised the current qualification process for the FTT tournaments doesn't require a player to have multiple FTTs to play multiple FTT events. If someone has 1 FTT, they can effectively play every regional FTT event, if they wish to. Was just clarifying what you meant by someone needing 7 tokens to play multiple events.

Sorry Scott, I misunderstood your query so let me try putting it a little diferently. Remembering this is only an idea nothing is set in concrete and NPL may never use it but they may get and alternative idea from it.

Let's assume we had a 9 week season and the 10th week was set aside for all FTT events for all the regions in that particular 10 week season.
I think a 4 week season and the 5th week for the FTT week may be a little too short but then again it could work.

As an example,

Monday....Metro East would hold their FTT event at a selected venue
Tuesday....Metro N.East, at a selected venue
Wednesday....Metro N.West, at a selected venue
Thursday....Metro South, at a selected venue
Friday....Metro S.East, at a selected venue
Saturday & Sunday All country Regions

Now, let's also assume the entry into any Final Table Token Event was reduced to one FTT per event. As you and I both know most players will have accumulated at least one or more FTT's during a season.

In fact there some punters will have lots of FTT's which will allow them to chase each metro venue and even the country ones and make some cash.

It appears Des has had enough and probably others like myself have too. I was hoping for a more positive outcome but it appears to have done the opposite. So throw a padlock on it Scotty and we can leave new ideas to the NPL.
Cheers M8 I hope the above example makes a little more sense.

But Bob, if you have just 1 FTT now, you can enter as many Regional events you like. You don't need a separate one for each.

What you are suggesting is that to enter say, Monday & Friday, you need 2 FTT's. And I can't see how the NPL database would be able to handle that.

But I do like your thought of having FTT's in the metro area, in each area.

I dont mind your idea bob, but i thinkt the logistics of it all would make it more difficult for NPL, and i can't see them going for a system that does that.

We'd also have to have the budget in order to have a decent enough prize pool to make individual metro FTT's worthwhile. For example, if the budget for a NE/SW/CBD FTT was at $1000, which seems to be what it would be, top 5 would get paid. How many runners do you think we would get?

The logistics would be a problem as well, it would probably come down to having to cash in your chips at rego and us having to check results on the spot to make sure you meet qualification requirements. Means longer rego time all round, plus a few other niggling problems.

Your ideas do make sense boys, they really do. Just really aren't that viable IMO.

$5000 Metro FTT is a great idea for mid-season, I'm glad management introduced it. I also like that the format will be different season to season. I really hope with the introduction of the championship series the next event will be capped out because the more big tournaments that NPL hosts that are well supported, the better it is for EVERYONE involved.

Nice post Caleb. I agree with you on the prize pool being better as it is now at $5k and yes the alternative would need some fine tuning.

I said earlier somewhere the logistics of bringing it all together for a whole week at 7 different venues would deffinately test the NPL Groups abilities.

I'm not sure haw far they payed back to on the PG $1,000 but they did get around 380 punters for a one off session. It was a great night and I'm sure Porky was pleased with the $1,000 plus it booted him to number one in the top 50 and made some more cash there too.

Thanks again for your input Caleb, regards Bob B
