you need to realise that your personal circumstances need to fit around 888pl, not the other way round. it's 888pl's job to try and fit the majority's personal circumstances as best they can, but for those in the minority, which you most definitely are (no fault of your own, its just the way it is), its just bad luck. surely you are foresighted enough to see that.

gundog wrote:It's easy for 888pl encourage players back to live venues, but the venues also have to do something to attract the players back.

you are right in this bit gundog (nice post too pundies).

BUT

what incentive is their for venues to sign up to have 888pl in their venue when that company is also trying to drag your customers away from the venues and onto their computers? doesnt make good business sense at all.

venues running 888pl shouldn't have to try and compete for players with 888pl!

basically what you are saying is that you want 888pl to be specifically tailored for the country bloke that plays 3 times a week, that has kids (but yet wants to spend the rest of his home time on the computer instead), and gets up early in the morning to work?

bacon is dead right with his analogy. next week ill be coming through waikerie at 330am, because that suits me, you sure as hell better be open so i can get fuel.

secondary question gundog

do you play any of the other events on 888? as far as i am aware, the only way 888pl makes money from the online part of the business is to get incentives from 888 for real money online play.

so if you were playing the other 888 games, you would still be supporting 888.

Exactly........888 the venues should be working with each other to attract the customers, which I am sure is something 888's BDM / and or State Area Manager takes care of.

There are other leagues around who make it more attractive for me to play at their venues (ie. $$ spent for stamp up and prizes). But I do find 888 from a business perspective much more professional and as a customer that is an element that is important to me (but perhaps not to everyone).

888 is catering to a wide range of poker league commitment (which is smart), everyone just need to accept the changes and find their own place within the new model.

In reference to the original POST!!!!

sunbury2 wrote:Just seen a post on 888pl site that says "players MUST play a minimum of 10 Home (online) and 10 Away (in venue) games".
10 + 10 SEEM TO BE THE REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY AT THE MOMENT AS THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AN ALTERNATIVE ADDED

So does this mean even if you have played 400 games at home but no away games you can't qualify.
I GUESS THAT'S A YES

Also if you have no internet access, but play 50 away games you can't qualify.
I GUESS THAT'S A YES TOO!!

can someone confirm this please.
thanks

Qote from 888pl site

In order to qualify for any of the 888PL Finals Series from 2010 (not the upcoming Semis and Grand Final in Jan/Feb) players MUST play a minimum of 10 Home (online) and 10 Away (in venue) games.

This means even if you win a Grand Final seat in a Re-buy event or satellite you cannot take part in that final until you meet this criteria. The seat would be held over until the next finals series when you have met the criteria.

Also players will not appear on the Dream Team scoreboard until they have met this minimum qualification.

Sunbry2, if you are concerned with purchasing a GF ticket and not meeting the correct criteria I suggest you PM Garth direct.

I have played 1 888pl game recently, I havn't played any other 888 games, there's no point in even logging in as there are no 888pl games available in my prefered time slot.
Last season I was a regular freeroll and CBI player mainly 888pl games, as previously stated and a strong supporter of live games.

Thats an issue FHG/888pl has to tip toe around, it was them who made a big deal that 888pl would be providing live and on line poker offering a supreme package over it competitors.

benny the cunt do you think attendances have gone up since the change?

Also if they have gone up why have a couple of venue reducing the number of games they host ? Ie the Kingy and B Lodge.

How many other players have made a similar decision like me, and are now playing primetime on a another online sites ?

what incentive is there for me to support the 888pl product, I have a meeting in the City this week normally I would play an 888pl game somewhere in Adelaide that night, now there is no reason too so more than likely I will drive straight home, or play the Cas.

Who misses out then? ( the Venue and 888pl)

yes, but there are other 888 games. the other night i played in a $500 guaranteed game, as well as a $300 guaranteed. so there are still other games on 888 besides 888pl. this was the point i was making.

gundog wrote:Last season I was a regular freeroll and CBI player mainly 888pl games, as previously stated and a strong supporter of live games

not doubting this at all mate. you are definitely a huge supporter of the league in general

gundog wrote:Thats an issue FHG/888pl has to tip toe around, it was them who made a big deal that 888pl would be providing live and on line poker offering a supreme package over it competitors.

they haven't tiptoed around it at all in my opinion. they have given us the reasons why they would like the games not to clash, and fair enough.

gundog wrote:benny the cunt do you think attendances have gone up since the change?

no, i think they have gone down. whether this is due to the online component being introduced, or just a natural balancing out, i am not sure.

but surely this just reinforces the point?

888pl want players in venues first and foremost. if their player base is still hungry for games in times outside when 888pl can offer these games, then they can play these.

gundog wrote:How many other players have made a similar decision like me, and are now playing primetime on a another online sites ?

i don't think anyone will have a problem with this, so long as you are supporting 888pl live games, which you clearly are. if you decide to play online on another site, then thats your prerogative. but this isn't really anything to do with 888pl, you do this anyway. i too play on other sites at the moment, but i try to play at least a couple of 888pl online games a week in addition to my once a week live game.

i dont see how this has changed because there aren't any online games any more. i dont follow.

all in all, noone is doubting your support of 888pl gundog, you are massive supporter. if the lack of prime time online games means you have to play on another site, then thats your personal choice. hopefully you might be able to play some of the games on a weekend.

bob is right here as well. this has got sidetracked a bit.

i think the moral of the story is, if you try and make 1 live and 1 online game a week, you should be fine. if you dont have the internet, but you still support 888pl in venues, i doubt they will have a problem. otherwise, just register and be a dead stack in a few :D

Looks like a few different arguments relating to my original post.
All I asked was
if you have played 400 games at home but no away games you can't qualify.
(As Working patterns are affecting some peoples ability to play 10 away venues)

Also if you have no internet access, but play 50 away games you can't qualify.
(As I know some people that play a large number of events, but dont have internet access.
If you don't have internet access it is hard to even log on and just get blinded out)

Bob B I doubt many people will be purchasing a $500 final ticket, rather attempting to qualify.
Either by playing a vast number of Away or Home events. Which is my point!
