Obviously, Bob.

You don't see the AFL Grand Final held in Paris.

Bob, what would be the point of having a regional final if nobody played at it?

Having it on a weekday or at a city venue would be a ridiculous idea. YAY im regional champion, i beat 5 others to win the title.

Oh DERHHH!!!!! Aaron. I don't mean to be rude M8 but It's not like it's the end of the earth to travel outside the B&G M8. Just look at the last State Finals and the players who came from all over the state to play.

I'm just saying that when you take Matty's plight into consideration that there are minimal venues that are suitable. And the availability for required dates in question you need to take whatever you can M8.

I for one have no idea what pubs or clubs are available in the B&G region that are capable of handling the required numbers. But with so little time available to make arrangement not only to set up run the Regionals but, also the need to possibly cover NPL's expenses, get the venue to provide the catering etc, etc, with such short notice is a major task.

Again, Macca, this will be my first regional and so I have very little idea on how, where, when or even how many people will be at one of these show-downs.

However, I do understand that Matty and probably Darren have a really bad situation on their hands that wasn't expected, especially on such short notice. And to lose 4 major alternatives doesn't make it any easier.

And let me make it as clear as I posibly can, it was MATTY who asked the question regarding a weekday NOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only responded to Matty's queerie the same as you did. Mine being positive yours negative. But I suppose I was more aware of the situation and the problems in trying to reorganise something of this nature with such short notice than you were.

And as far as other metro venues, well I guess that might be out of the question any way. But it was a suggestion not set in concrete.

You know it would be nice to see people offering Matty and Darren some positive support. I don't think many people care or understand what they are faced with at this particular time and moment.

Besides reorganising another Regional venue they still have their ongoing tournaments to run plus other NPL duties, plus I assume like us they too have a home and family they like to spend some time with.

Ok, that's my soap box moment for today and I would just like to say that sometimes we all need to look and think outside the box.

Bob, since when did I mention anything about travel time?

Holding the B&G regionals in somewhere other than the B&G region is just plain stupid. The regionals finals are a celebration of the season, and to hold them in the NE, or the south... wouldn't make sense at all. Think of the effort every B&G player would have to go to just to attend.

You've also got to consider the financial benefits for the venue. Its a chance to showcase your venue to the entire region and bring in a big profit, something that should be going back to the B&G region, not some city pub.

I get what you're saying Bob, but the idea is ludicrous. If Matty can't find a venue, then he will just wait until one opens up. B&G players will understand the wait - nobody would want to sacrifice it for the regional finals to be held in the city.

If it had to be in the NE I'm sure the extra 15 mins down Main North Rd wouldn't kill you. It's hardly the same as having to go to Woodcroft or something.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
