hi garth - you want something positive - here it is ... I crawled out of my sick bed to go to poker tonight to dispel some floating rumours ... to find that Adam and Mark were working tonight at tigers ... what great joy .. Adam is a great host, is constantly on the mic and constantly keeping us up with what is happening, what is coming up, how many players are needed to fill the bad beat table, that there are 'wannabees' coming up, letting players know there are bar staff serving drinks to the poker tables, that there are new things for 2009, he works tirelessly night after night and it is complete involvement. He has given me confidence in my game and helped me forge my way to around 32nd in a state final, my best finish to date, by simple words of encouragement and support. Mark and Ernie would have to be the most pleasant td's next to adam and Kav takes no time at all to settle split pots, disputes and takes no crap from anyone. these guys know their stuff and go about their business without any fuss, making the nights run so smoothly. So to go tonight after the week I have had, was a great and pleasant surprise. Adam and Mark make a great team, thanks for a great night guys, I am smiling through the pain I am in at this time of night, which should explain what I am doing up at this time of night ... ggrrrr

Hi Garth, I think you responded to everything in one way or another ... oh, except rule 2, as shown in the game rules section on the npl website, where it clearly says that players are encouraged to witness the colour up. perhaps if this rule was adhered to instead of us being ordered out of the poker area, players could not complain. and I am sure if they were offered the choice of watching or going for a drink or cigarette, the novelty would soon wear off and only a handful of players would remain. there is nothing wrong with asking them to leave the area once their chip up is done... so do them first and get rid of them .. It also seems a bit harsh that one player, who continually complains of being short, ruins it for the rest of us. a td gave me a wrong chip up the other night, right in front of me... for my drink cards, and then she admitted that her mind was elsewhere and she wasn't paying attention... luckily, the player to my left saw what happened as I had stood out of her way so she could get to the rest of the table and did not notice what she did. I did get my chips corrected by the way.

Oh those wonderful rules on the website. How NSW abides by them is beyond me. The rules I have written up for our competition you will find on the home page of this forum. TD's dictate the rules, and some do feel very uncomfortable with players looking over their shoulder, and I don't like the fact of having players around a room with naked chip stacks. That's how players lose chips more than anything, someone decided to "acquire" a few more to be used at a latter time.

It also seems a bit harsh that one player, who continually complains of being short, ruins it for the rest of us.

It's not just one player, but it is all the players who suffer. It is every players responsibility to ensure that the competition is not being damaged in any way. How many people previously have said yes he definitely had x chips when they really had no clue, only because they were worried about a confrontation or upsetting a fellow player. How many times has a player known that someone's chipstack was not right and said nothing, until long after the fact. There are so many stories I could tell.

In essence this is the lifeboat theory. If players are not willing to support our TD's and bring dishonest players like this into line, in conjunction with TD's (they cannot be everywhere). Then you all suffer the repercussions.

I was also reading your post Garth ...God i hope i wasn't the one who wrecked it with what i said in my previous post. Last night was the only time I have ever disputed my chip stack. Please put my mind to rest.....

Not at all Jase. Every TD in the North and West knows who it is, and Rosemary knows who it is as well.

Allegations have recently been floated by several players towards this player and several others of a black ban on Hoppers (maybe this is a good indication of why player numbers are down so dramatically there). Apparently there is one ring leader who feels that this player was hard done by and in NPL tournaments the player is always right.

If any of this confirmed in any way, I am going to have a lot of fun on my hands.

If you want a decent competition then players have to provide that themselves at times. Even if it means an email after the fact.

Garth, when I was growing up, my mother taught me that the customer is always right, and that is the sign of a good salesperson - making the customer feel special, even though you might know they are wrong. but when you are not 100% certain that the customer is wrong, then you have to acknowlegde that there is chance YOU might be wrong instead.

I have never made this assimilation in NPL, I only did so after reading your last post - so thanks for bringing it up. Q9

Dear Garth
this is a grumble about the Chelse game and the final table tokens. I dont live in the suburbs as niether do a lot of other players, I'm looking at a two and a half hour drive one way and with a pittence of $100 up for grabs it is just not worth the effort . How about some local games for your country members that have achieved the final tables four or more times. What about a bonus chip stack or something for those that have a final table more than 4 times. At this point of time the final table tokens mean jack s%&t to me. Alan
