now that dave and pete have pointed it out, it does seem pretty unfair.
maybe a rethink of how the dream team scoreboard is calculated.
possibly have "state" dream team scoreboards - i.e 10 home games (same for everyone) and 10 SA games, gives you a SA dream team scoreboard.
similar things can be done for every state
winner of the state dream team leaderboard gets automatic dream team membership
then top 5 from each state play off in a tourney (online or at grand final) to decide who is going to be the dream team tourney winner overall.
therefore you have a 5 person dream team every season
1 from SA
1 from Vic
1 from Qld/NSW
1 from Tas
1 from dream team tourney
i think this is a better way of going about it rather than handicapping Qld because of their bigger venues - we want to let them thrive not handicap them for having such great numbers.
what do people think?
does the dream team points scoring need to be changed

When he came second in the Dreamteam, his averages were:
Scott Murrin
Home Average : 510 (approx)
Away Average : 245 (approx)
The total points that QLDers have in the DT isd a flawed perception as to how they can get points. It's not until you split them up that you can see that if the numbers even reduce in a season, it will be impossible once they work out (properly) how the online system works.
Thanks Dave
Scotts Home average of 510 was a very different system in season 2 though, on line points have dried up completely. Like I said Wabbit had the best National average in season 3 with 198....
Next season, once all the Queenslanders catch on to the dreamteam concept and start playing on line, no other state will be able to compete. At the moment, they just need to get their 10 games up and they're good.
Has to remain as it is for season 4 I would think, as the season has started, which is OK, but perhaps a bit of a look for 2011 ?
Top 10 Dreamteam for season 4 will all be Queenslanders, does not mean that they are any better or any worse than anyone else in the country. I'm sure they have the same mix of good players and bad players just like every other state. Just means when we kick a goal we get 6 points, and when they kick a goal, they get 10.
Stupid game..... Never playing again

I like it benny the cunt
On line game rather than at GF. Too busy having a good time on the Friday night of the GF weekend !!
And correct, lets not penalise the Queenslanders for having great numbers, lets make sure 888PL flourishes up there !! Absolutely.

yeah i was thinking online too - but then again, this could easily replace the state of origin tournament that they run sometimes

Pretty sure I read in a very recent 888pl newsletter that there was going to be a shakeup to DreamTeam system - so I am sure Garth will fill us in in due course.

Re: does the dream team points scoring need to be changed
Hi All,
Well the last few weeks have indeed been very hectic and quite an experience. The highlight would obviously be the Grand Final; a lot of effort goes into this event and it is one of the highlights of the year for me. We are all very proud of the work we do and this event is our crowning accomplishment and I and my team are very proud to deliver one of the country’s largest, rake free, professional tournaments.
Over the last few years I have been witness to a few great poker accomplishments, within our poker league, immediately springing to mind is Daniel Booth who shipped $67,000 in the Inaugural Adelaide Champs Main Event at Sky City and he followed this up a few months later with defeating 400+ opponents to ship a State Finals. But all of this was surpassed on August 29th when I was able to witness the GREATEST 888PL accomplishment to date.
In February Kon Koroneos went on to defeat 200+ opponents in our Grand Final to ship just under $35,000. In August Kon would once again put on a show of dominating poker skill to ship just under $20,000 when he finished third in the most recent Grand Final and outlasting a further 400 opponents. I think his effort is even more phenomenal when you see his opponents on the Final table and the caliber and skill represented there; Jeff Fenech (WSOP ME cash), Mike Subacius (perennial Dream Team member) and Mike Raines (Online phenom) just to name a few of the player he outlasted.
It will definitely go down as a highlight of my career when I look back at this event and the type of tournament we delivered and the accomplishments listed.
Over the next few weeks I will begin sharpening my poker skills (online at 888 of course) as it looks more and more likely that I will be playing in the Port Vila Power Up! I look forward to meeting some of you there and battling it on the felt in a true MEGA STACK tournament. BTW – I love Vanuatu and strongly recommend it for a relaxing holiday!
Over the next few months we will be delivering a few changes to the competition with a shakeup of the Dream Team prizes and rewards, a new finals system more promotions and dates and venue for the 888PL Grand Final in March. Look out for me and the team to be doing the rounds in your state over the coming months as well!
Good luck on the felt!
Garth Kay.

Re: does the dream team points scoring need to be changed
The points system will remain as is for the time being and into the new season.
Their will be a change in Home Game fixture and I won't be releasing full details on all changes just yet.
The fact remains that we are talking about a small minority of players that a FT points chasers and that many of you who defended the State scorebaord argument (regional vs. metro) are now taking the Gundog defense to a national level because one region is an 888PL stronghold and goldmine of players.

I do think that state vs state arguments are slightly different o to country vs metro arguments.
But I do see your point.

fair point
the difference is that it still takes a massive achievement to finish first in a state, but finishing first in the barossa/riverland/wherever, with only a few venues and probably not even ten regulars, isn't really that hard.
but you are correct though
