but this is precisely the point! go to a venue!

Just a question , not being a smart ass , or trying to incite a riot , but we go to the pub to play for free , yes ? ?

Therefore the players do nothing for the prizemoneys on offer ... They do fill the venues tills tho ..

So one has to , for example , saying "Heywards of Penola" or any venue was the closest venue , attend 84% of the venue's games . (10/12)

That is a few ..

Who has missed 2 of their locals nights so far this year already ?

I think I can confidently put my support of venues well above the majority of 888pl players, so its not just a case of supporting venues, its about providing equal access to both venue and on line games for everyone and that means the 1700 to 2030 time slot also.

Based on the online bias to those who can play games either late at night or during the day, and provide very little for players like me why should I support 888pl at all (but I will still play my home venue more to support the venue than 888pl)

Gundog, if you are only playing 10 home game just to meet the qualification criteria, then it really doesn't matter when they are.. just register for 10 over 10 days, and don't play any of them.

Think of this from a venue pov.. if there are competing games at the same time, for no cost, in the comfort of the punters homes, don't you think they'll consider their market to be decreased, and less likely to take up the offer?

I'm a 9-to-5'er, with a family, and sporting commitments, yet I have never, and will never, complain about the lack of 7-10pm games, because there is a reason for it. Besides, if you do have a family, shouldn't you be spending time with them between 7-10, and then have time for poker after that????
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

Hi Scott ,

I presume the venues do pay 888pl to host the games at their pub/clubs , hence moneys going to the prize pools ;) , but this to them is smart business .

Pay a token amount to get 10x the amount in their tills , so in a sense , non directly , yes the players are contributing to the prize pools .

;)

Cheers P

Yep your right, also consider that family man who supports a venue and has a young family he spends quality time with his billy lids and partner, but starts work a 6am may not be too keen on playing in a game starting a game after 10pm.

888pl also need to consider there are a group of players more often regional players who only have access to 1 or 2 venues in reasonable traveling distance, but the old NPL and even now most of the events are biased towards metro players.

Give us at least 1 challenge game per night between 6 and 8

Gundog, why do you think players have a right to play games in timeslots that suit them? We are completely lucky that we can play any 888pl games at all outside of our regular venues. And before you start spouting that our nearest venue is 30 mins away, we are most certainly in the minority here, and even we get to play two games a week in our small town.

The vast majority of 888pl players have many venue's to choose from within a short distance of their homes. It does not make any sense from a business point of view for 888pl to provide any reason for players not to attend live venues, their main source of revenue, regardless of who or which group is disadvantaged with their ability to access online games. I repeat that we are LUCKY to have ANY online games at all!!

As players we are probably in the best position to comment on the structure of any online events (and most have been markedly improved btw) but surely 888pl management are in the best position to decide the schedule of events based on how that effects in venue numbers and financial return to 888pl as a result.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

Mac with all due respect I will continue voice my opinion of the lack of on line games in my prefered time slot.

What gives me that right, my support 888pl's live venues I dont just play my home venues, I do travel that 30min + to support other venues, if you think back I have supported most riverland venues and I am regular visitor to a number of venues outside the Riverland. My support of 888pl cannot be challenged.

888PL have to encourage players to play live games, otherwise the money doesn't come in. That is why there are no online games during prime time. It's pretty simple really.

Or...cancel all the away games, play everything online and we'll have a grand final at the end of the year for whatever is in the 888PL kitty...

OH HANG ON! There's no revenue coming in because no one is going to live venues anymore. Congratulations you are now playing off for a piece of paper and a memorial BIC pen that .

You can only get out what you put in. If you want to play in the grand final, or semi finals, for some awesome prizes then it is not unreasonable to ask that you actually put in some effort and support the 888PL revenue stream by attending 10 games over a 12/13 week period. Hell you don't even have to spend money at the venue, just more people that are playing live increases revenue and helps 888PL give the players the awesome finals and prizes.
