it is obviously +EV, but playing against bad players earns you more in the long run, you are right trishan.
not having a go at you CT, but if you were a player that didn't have a significant edge over the field, then dead stacks would be good
(that in no way implies that you aren't a good player CT)

I understand the point you are making benny the cunt, but I have a few questions
When I first posted that having dead stacks was +ev your reply was:
Now you say
What are we discussing again?

Both you guys are right. Stop arguing lol It is +EV to play against dead stacks but more +EV to play against other players over which you have an edge.

+EV in the sense that you can win pots uncontested with 62o, where even if you get it in with AA vs KK, there is still a 20% chance that you will lose the hand (compared to the 0% chance when facing dead stacks).

Re: Time to change the sizes of the online games...
sorry ct, i should have made myself clear.
in any tournament, the goal is to maximise your edge over the field.
if those players are dead, yes you will have an advantage, but IF you have a huge advantage over the field, i think you would wanna be playing with these people instead.
so in fact, when comparing to actually playing against these people, your capacity to win chips off them is diminished, so it is -EV in that sense.

I dont disagree with this statement at all, anyone who does should play uno instead. But that is a pretty big IF qualifier. I stand by the fact that 7/10 dead stacks on your table isnt the worst thing that can happen.

Nah not tonight mate. I have played only one or two games this season. Good luck though. You need to target that Charlie guy, bit of a d-on-k. But don't tell him I said that...

Re: Time to change the sizes of the online games...
I once played a large online tourney (that you needed to qualify for) where there were 8 deadstacks on a 10 person table. It was very easy for me and the other player to steal blinds, avoid each other (he actually posted "take turns?" in the chat box, and i must say i was happy to oblige) and take absaloutely no risk.
Let me say is was a HUGE advatnage. The other stacks on the table lasted something like an hour and our table only got broken once two of them were completely knocked out, and the others were very short. This tourney had a big start stack, and after the end of this period myself and the other guy were sitting 1st and 3rd in chips with more than double the average stack.
Of course its a big advantage. If you had to choose between a no risk double the average stack, or a chance at a bigger stack (but also a chance of getting knocked out), then i know which one im choosing.
