Yes! Cos Darren decides how many you should have!

Get real guys! The decision on how many ultimately qualify is an operations decision. Its 133 players. Its what Matty and I have been given. Deal with it!

So, you're... letting in more players? Players that haven't hit 15 games? Am I reading this right?

What's going on? :?

OK Aaron, I will tell you why operations have decided to let more people in when you ask your boss why he parts his hair in that fashion and to explain it to all his staff in a state wide email!

i don't think he's complaining darren, just asking for clarification, as am i.

for the 2008 season 1 regional final, coming up on june 7th, what are the qualification requirements? is it 10 games, or 15?

either way is good by me - a big field would be good.
i am also guessing that because it starts in the afternoon we are going to be able to have a relaxed state-finals-like blind structure?

I could care less how many runners the regional finals get - in terms of making it harder for the competition. Of course I want more - bigger is better, and bigger numbers means regional finals for the next few years. Who would honestly want a smaller field?

I mean, I can guess why operations let more players in, of course. I just don't agree with players with less than 15 games being let in. Many players worked hard through the season to play 15 games (hell we made the trip to Kapunda for Shreky) and I've heard MANY stories of players missing social events so they can hit 15 games. We were told through the season that to qualify for the regional final, you needed 15 games.

You want to change the entry process for this season? Fine. 10 games, a certain number of points? Whatever, you're free to do so. Its just not fair to the players that worked hard last season, to hit 15 games, knowing (now) that if they hadn't put in the effort, they probably still would've qualified anyway.

If something like this was always going to be implemented (and I have trouble seeing that it wasn't) the least you could have done was let everyone know.

"Hey, we're letting in everyone to the regional finals!" Course, then nobody would try to get their 15 games up. I see your line of thinking :P

It just diminishes the qualification process a tad, that's all.

darren's subsequent posts imply that the qualification was 10 games not 15. so i am just asking for definite clarification

OK... so the stirring is over.

Now to answer your questions seriously!!

I understand your gripe Aaron. Just so that you understand, no decisions on this seasons qualification process was made until the 2nd last week of season 2 where we had less then 80 players qualify for the Regional Final at that time. So, no we did not have this implemented from the beginning. It is all a work in progress!!

The qualification process for season 2 was as follows.....
Players had to play at least 15 games to qualify where their best 15 games would be taken on average. At this point we were assuming (or more likely hoping) that we would get more than the 150 places available.
This obviously did not happen. Hence the amendments made to the season 3 process of only needing 10 games. A lot more to fight for I believe.

Now, having stated the above, operations has decided to reward the first two players from each venue in the top 10 that didn't make 15 games but still played more than 10. I understand people have gone out of their way to reach the 15 game cutoff but ultimately it is only 20 more people.

So, to break it down for you.....
103 qualifiers
20 top ten (2 from each venue)
10 Clare qualifiers (Clare has no where else to qualify unless they travel 100+ kms for any other game)

Hope this satisfies your curiosity guys.

It's 10 games by average so just playing 10 games wont secure you an instant berth at the Regionals. It will be your best 10 games.
No, that will not apply to season 2.

I'm sorry benny the cunt!!
How is this ambiguous??
