It is Jo ...

as my Home avg is : 395.17 ,
and my Away avg is : 250.65 ,
giving me my DT score of : 645.82

It is clearly stated on the website , as Scott has cut and pasted mate .. ;)

This is a good system in my opinion , but that may be because of where i am sitting atm .. :)
When choosing between the 2 evils , I like to choose the 1 i haven't tried yet !

i tell you what, i am really glad that i am not trying to go for a leaderboard place this season.

back in season 1 when i finished 10th, all i had to complain about was the extra points for the grand final freeroll (i would have been third without that game)

but thats nothign compared to this.

good luck guys, don't get too many grey hairs over the next week or so :D

Here's where the true issue rears it ugly head, the amount of prize money available for DT and SL, create this unfair advantages in the form of mega points by likes of 10x special games, MM & AK freeroll/rebuy 3x games, big v small venue.

We have seen it in the old NPL days where the State Leaderboard was dominated by metro players who could play up to 3 games per day, when you have access to that many games you best 15 games (as it was then) these can easily be all top 5 finishes or better.

I could be wrong here but it should be more about how can we devise a system that rewards all players both State, Metro, Regional and Online, with an even chance to compete on a level playing field.

Rather than debating single facets of the various parts of DT and SL put our collective head together and come up feasible ideas to assist Garth and his team with ways to make this the best comp in the nation even better.

I have previously made comment along the line of self intrest, mostly about online game times but I do realize its the invenue game that is the cornerstone of 888pl poker.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

regional players cannot and will not ever be able to compete.

its just a fact of life.

artificially rigging it so they can compete is unfair to metro players.

you really need to get over this.

JMACK007 wrote:Garth, no one has mentioned it here, but I did in another topic. I think there is a problem with the current scheduling of the AK & MM games. This season, because of the multiplier, they have become the games you must play to make DT (or at least give you the best chance). The scheduling problem is that to play EITHER of these games, it does not allow you to play in venue that day.....

The AK starts at EST16:00, usually finishes around EST20:30
The MM starts at EST21:00.....

As most venues kick off here in ADL at EST20:00, you can work out for yourself why these games cannot be played if playing in venue....

As this season was supposed to be more encouraging for players to play in venue, I believe this schedualling is counter productive....

Cheers,

Jo

Here's some statistics for you:

The average 888PL player will play 1.4 events per week. The hard core points chasers will play on average 2.2 games per week.

So basic maths informs you that the average player is available to play these "high point" home games at least 5 nights per week and the hard core players 4 nights per week.

But if I move these games to a middle of the day timeslot, it will simply be that too many "unemployed/shift workers" are the only people with access to big home scores, the same if I move them to very late at night. So what do you suggest I do in regards to times?

At the moment, these game times will not change but I will look at introducing a different points multiplier but I am waiting for some information from 888.

I have asked 888 for a report on how many players that have played have rebought in these tournaments since Jan 4th. I will then manually calculate on average how many people that finished in the points had spent money in that tournament, this will sway my decision on whether we change the points multiplier.

Because the 888PL is a business and not a charity, the prizes, rewards and acclaim will always go to those players who support our clients or this league by spending their hard earned dollars.

Without players supporting venues and players playing for real money online, their is no league, there are no prizes and there are no fellow players to discuss all of this with.

Sinitster wrote:Only making it available to those who want and can spend money is not really a fair and open competition mate , yes it is a business , and yes the more paying customers the better , but making the prizes available to the WHOLE 888PL community is far more advantagous than restricting it to some !

One can go to the venues and play for free without spending a cent if they wish and get a 5x multiplyer .....
"why should these people get ANYTHING?!?!?!?!"

I think we just need to learn whatever system they put in place and play it to our best advantage , regardless wether it has it rights or wrongs !

I love the last line Phil.

BUT......

Do you realise how BIG the whole 888PL community is? Do you realise the varied demographics involved in this league? No other real product has such an appeal to a varied and wide assortment of people in the community.

Where else can you find 80 year old ladies playing along 18 year old young men? Business executives that earn 100K + per year playing beside tradies who were up from 4am that morning?

Not only do they play against each other but interact and socialise and form friendships.

If you ever to find a fair competition structure, that is attractive and fair, for all of these demographics and personality types please let me know and you would able to sell your ideas for Millions.

benny the cunt, hits the nail on the freaking head.

Artificially modifying the competiton to assist regional players for no other reason than that regional players don't have access to the number of games or size of games as their metro counterparts is simply not an option.

I prefer to operate special events in each region that have a larger points multiplier than trying to equalise regular competition points offered between metro venues and regional venues. It just won't ever happen.
