Are there going to be 888pl events running at the same time or lead up to these events?

Am sure a few players would like the chance to play in both.

At this time there will be no conflict of events.
The Vic Champs will actually be held earlier in the month if not in July.

It's disappointing that the 888PL Vic Semi-Finals are on the same weekend as the Melbourne Champs next weekend [especially that 888pl have been promoting/satelliting the Melb Champs].

It would be great if these conflicts could be avoided for future 888pl events.

We had the Semi Finals booked in long before Crown has scheduled the Melb Champs.

Crown finalises schedules a month before operation, but I have raised this with Jonno and we will be conducting a planning meeting to avoid clashes next FY.

Hey Garth,

Not sure if it is possible, but with the 888pl Gf now locked in for late August, would be a good idea to co-ordinate with the Crown crew and get another major Crown series to coincide with the GF. Maybe the Hachem series again? The earlier that 888pl players know that these events are running before/after the GF, the easier it is to plan travel/accom, especially for interstate players...
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

In a teams event !! LOL.
Get real, lighten up a bit and enjoy it.
That event cost about the same as it would have to go to the Footy for goodness sake.

Every teams event I've played or watched has been taken seriously.

There is so much emotion involved, it's great.

if you choose to lighten up, then thats fine, but as soon as there is any sort of money on the line, i dont think you can blame anyone for taking it a little more seriously.

I agree that there can be a bit of emotion involved when things get later on in the tournament. But, these events are designed to be fun and should be treated as such........geez, a $60 buyin for each partner was not a huge amount to outlay.

I guess it depends what you mean by "serious"
If people want to take it seriously, and take their time, and treat it as a tournament they really want to win - who cares?

For some people, like you and me, that's true.

But for some people $60 is a massive outlay in comparison to what they would usually pay for poker and with the size of the prizes on the line, taking it seriously is absolutely fine.

I wasn't aware other people's $60 entry fee was so you could enjoy yourself :)

I confess to never understanding how paying money to not try and win (or at least do well) is considered fun. May as well just hand over $60 and go straight to the bar or watch the big screen or something.

Maybe there could be a national flips tournament and people still fork out $500+ to get to it, just for some fun.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
