Matty Norwood wrote:to those who have played at the casino, you all know about the ring. To those who havent there is an inner ring marked on the tables, your chips stay behind the inner ring, any chips that move into the ring are considered part of the pot.
It is all players responsibility to protect their chips and if they decide to bet in the dark thats their bad luck if they dont like their hands. We dont have an inner ring on our tables but any chips that have been pushed forward towards the pot will be considered part of the pot.
The marked ring in casinos does not mean anything and its not part of the legality of putting chips inside the ring. Its the action you make which becomes a part of the pot. If you have questions about this, ask the manager in casino poker zone.

Re: STRADDLERS!!!
I want your opinion then, if the ring is 'binding'
Lets say 1 player goes all in and receives two callers - pre-flop.
the Flop comes and one player makes a play at the pot and the remaining player folds. We are now heads up.
The all-in player is about to roll his cards, but the player who called throws their cards into the middle of the 'ring' face down.
What is the decider here?
Are those cards still live for that caller and do we have a showdown? or does the all-in receive his tripple-up without anymore cards being shown?
Interested on your thoughts before I tell you.

i am guessing here, but i would say that ANY chips over the line are part of the pot, BUT if you also make a forward motion with your chips say, but they do not cross the line, then this can also be classed as binding action even though the chips didn't cross the line?

i would be tempted to say that cards face down across the line is a muck. but i am not a casino pit boss, so...

Re: STRADDLERS!!!
I think it largely depends on where you're playing as niggly rules like that tend to differ slightly.
As for the Adelaide cas... there's definitely a betting ring but I can't remember ever seeing it being enforced.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: STRADDLERS!!!
Sorry, just to clarify
It was at the casino.
Anyway, the cards remained live regardless of the manner they entered the ring.
The all-in held with two-pair J and 6s (I don't know either, but anyway).
There was a bit of a scene at the time but the dealer said that they had not moved the cards to hit the muck so regardless, they were live.
Just a FYI.

Re: STRADDLERS!!!
I'm curious to this ruling too.
Last night at the Kingy we had 3 players in for $1k each. Crayfish in the SB me BB and the slightly under the weather chip leader.
From memory [aa9] hit on the flop and we all checked, another [a] on the turn and we all checked again. It looked like we were all slow playing each other and weren't prepared to place a bet. A [9] hits on the river making a full house on the board. I said any pocket pair over the nines will take it and we all checked it down.
I turn my cards over and so does crayfish and the limper says I had s hit and throws his face down into the muck!!!!!!!!
We ask him why he mucked his cards as it was a split pot. He says split it up between you guys I've got plenty. Which we did and then he claims he showed his cards to the person sitting next to him before he threw them into the mucked.
The guy carried on and claimed he'd show n his cards I was addament he didn't show anyone. I asked Darren for clarification as the guy was still carrying on and we decided to split it 3 ways.
I realise it wasn't a big pot but, what if it was??????

And how many beverages had this gentleman had? As far as I'm concerned. If it's touched the much pile, face down, cards are gone.
Will dance for your chips!
