A representative council of players and regulation of the pub poker industry are mutually exclusive. I voted yes, however, believing it would be beneficial to the NPL.

I haven't voted as I'm still thinking about it.

I certainly don't like the idea of a "player representative council", as such things usually end up very unrepresentative. I can however see where you're coming from, and I like what you're trying to do, and to that end I'm trying to come up with some constructive input. Will get back to it later :D

I’m rather happy with how NPL is run, which is why you don’t see me posting a lot – I currently have no suggestions. Changes are made on a regular basis and I accept them. I can’t recall a time I’ve ever thought "damn NPL, why the hell did they/didn’t they do that?" Hey, maybe a council of players has merits that I’m not seeing but after seeing the amount of bickering on here regarding opinions and thoughts on how to make it better, I can’t honestly imagine it working. We’ve all seen it – someone makes a suggestion or a complaint and people are so quick to jump on it with criticism that at times is not exactly constructive. In regards to monitoring player and TD conduct, what difference would it make? People are told time and time again about what to do when there is an incident at a game, but we still either get posts or talk among players along the lines of:

Person X: At Venue last night there was this incident (blah blah blah), I can’t believe this is allowed to go on.
Person Y: Did anyone tell the TD?
X: Um…no
Y: *facepalm*

Players do like to whinge to other players, so maybe it would work. But I’m voting no.

And apologies if I’ve missed a vital point – am trying to be on here covertly because I’m at work. I’m sure there’s more I want to say.

Edit: got rid of all the squares that magically appeared within words!

Valid points thus far and I like the lateral thinking from some of our contributors, also understand that this is almost a marketing exercise where we can use this council as a sounding board.

I would also ask that you do contemplate the most favourable outcome for selection of council members, not opinionated, arrogant, loud mouths but rather players of the likes of the Murrin Boys who are responsible and level headed and have no intention of furthering any subconcious alpha male attributes.

We have this Forum and i continue to tell all my players about it, Yet the funny thing is i have hardly yet see anyone on it...SA use this forum flat out and i think its a great way for players to get points across

Garth and I have actually spoke about stuff written on here a fair bit and we actually listen to the forum as the voice of players, Yet when there is an issue and a player comes up and speaks to me i will always Email NPL managment about it and get a satisfactory result almost straight away , But i mention to people that they should jump online and get on the forum and voice there opinions there , Whether they do or not i dunno but i have never seen it yet !!!

The thing about this Forum is -
1/ Its the voice for players and gets looked at all the time and i have seen some Great debates going AND strong arguements coming from both sides
2/It doesnt have a chairman putting to NPL what HE/SHE as themselves want without the opinion of others!!!

Maybe there should be a HUGE PROMO to get this up and going and then maybe all the voices of NPL players will be heard ,NOT just the Chairman with an individual Voice for the players

My opinion though interesting subject and poll though can't wait for the results

thats pretty true paul

in addition to all of the crap that we usually talk on here, the forum has been used to get the NPL player base's ideas for a while now - isn't this what the council would be set up to do?
