no benny the cunt, it does not change my opinion at all. and while I appreciate your comments, the game is different for us all, that is why we are such a diverse group of competitors. and don't take me wrong, I love playing against the td's - just not in an npl tournament. I have even invited Garth to come play with us, so I have no objection to that at all.

Let me share this with you: one night at our local, 2 female td's were working. in the second redraw, one husband and one boyfriend were drawn out to come back into the game ... conincidence ??? mmmmmm. I think that is called 'cheating' .. do I want them playing with me? no thanks.

or what about the ruling they made in favour of their relative, stating that it didn't matter, it wasn't going to affect the game. right!! the correct ruling would have put the relative out, but instead, he made final table. that is called favourtism, or perhaps, cheating, or perhaps 'bending the rules to suit yourself (or your family). do I want to play with these people in an event where we are working towards points, prizes, learning the game skills more and experiencing the full force of the rules. no I don't.

then there was the time when a td came and played on our table, they enjoyed watching us play, so they wanted to play with us. there was a discrepancy on the table, we asked the td to tell us the correct ruling and all we got was a shrug of the shoulders and 'how would I know?' and then a similar situation whereby we were told 'it's my day off, I'm not working, so -not my problem'.

don't take me wrong, these are great and nice people, some of whom we relish the thought of playing with, but they are no great addition to the poker tournament.

you see, the argument behind this is - and I have just gotten off the phone from someone who totally agrees, that they don't care about what they play and that it has no significance to them because they can't win anything. so they can play as loose as they want, without worrying about any loss of prizes or points or who they knock out or who they chip up.

I ended up in the last 3 on a final table, with a td, he was to my right. I got A6 suited and was big blind - perfect time to push all in as the other player had called the blinds - when before I had the chance, the td pushed all in ahead of me. If the td had not been on the table, they would not have been able to influence the hand. As it was, I folded - I did not get 1 single chance to play this other player as the td was right in the middle of everything. I would have beaten the other player as my ace hit, but not the td, who had pocket pairs and hit the 3rd one.

when you go to play npl, from the very moment you register, you are agreeing to play by the rules of the game and you are playing for a prize - regardless of what it is. If there is a prize involved, staff should not be allowed to participate or have any influence over the game.

Now, if NPL want to organise a special event - as Bob touched on, with every td playing, garth, brett, peter, garry, simon, brayden - all npl staff - using players to run the game - there would be plenty of volunteers, then let me know where and when cos I am in.

If you want to play with us, come and play in a homey - we would love the challenge and welcome you. and we play for fun and we have a fair game whereby all the rules are in place and apply to everyone. and although this is my reply, they are not my feelings alone.

So, if the player ahead of you WASN'T a TD, and had pushed all in with a pocket pair, and you had A6, would you have called?

You got pushed off a pot by someone with a pocket pair.... and you would've lost. Isn't that a positive??? And being you were last 3, that means you WON this tournament, if the 3rd player was knocked out by the TD.

Sheessh. No pleasing some people. q9, I enjoy reading your posts sometimes, but the glass is not always half empty.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

I have lots of positive things to say and my glass is always half full, not half empty, you just don't read that part or perhaps don't see that part ... and as I said, once bitten, twice shy. things like what has happened to us leave a nasty taste in your mouth.

how you play the game with someone who doesn't give 2 hoots about how or where they come puts a whole different outlook on why they are playing and what they are playing.

b.t.w. did you see where I think a special tourney with all the npl staff would be great fun .. no mention of prizes, prizemoney, points, - just pure fun and enjoyment ... does that sound negative to you? And I had lots to say about being positive about the state leader board and top 10 etc, but unfortunately, most SA players have been canning the slb and making it insignificant ... I find that a little negative, but hey, I do believe we are all entitled to our own opinions.... all of us equally.

Queen we can all read your posts and we all do thoughly,

i dont think its the way we read them, i think its the way you write them.

Your imput is absolutely appreciated and required by the forum public ( ie the rest of us) to give a good forum.

But your posts do come across as negitive , they are helpfull Garth has admitted to that, so dont take this as a "we dont want you to post " or even a "we dont want you to change" becuase we dont.

In order for this forum to work we need different oppinions in order to get the best discussions going, and your oppinion does matter.

But it is a generally negative one, other posters have mentioned this numerous times and i belive these posts have been generally ignored by you.

But as i said please dont change, just understand how we see it.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

and just for the record, what else would you expect from a nanna of 8 with greying hair, going through 'the change', looking after a mother who has recently had spinal surgery, an invalid husband, a suicidal daughter, a depressed daughter, a wayward son who often finds himself on the wrong side of the law ... and I work 3-4 days a week and chase after family every other day and night and only get around 4-5 hours sleep a night (if that - check out what time I often post).

now I've got that off my chest and it's all out .. I think I do pretty well to keep it to where I do ... lol ... and you may well wonder why I play poker .... do you really need to ask?

I have a good heart and good intentions, and love my poker - every day and every night if I could.

Queen

just reading your comments on the female td's redrawing their partners and how you consider it wasnt coincidence .... thats a pretty harsh accusation, did you actually witness a rigging or is it just assumption???

My wife plays one of my events everyweek and i have only ever drawn her out once and the time it happened everyone laughed yelling rigged ....its all part of it i actually gave another redraw same as if i would have if i drew a TD's name out

Another time i drew out of the 5 draws at the first break a whole family that was fluke also and if i got accussed like that i would have thrown whoever out on the A***

The TD that played on your table was obviously wathcing something else or did'nt actually see what happened even if he makes a ruling he is a player and the TD working is the guy in charge makes the final decision !!!!!

When i play events i wont rule ill say what i think should happen (PROVIDED I SAW IT) but i keep everytable running smoothly and make sure that the nights a great one

I personally dont think that being knocked out by a TD is a bad thing they are there to play and if we dont get the chance to play anywhere and forced to play nppl or a.p.l then i think it would be stupid to support the opposition company.....

I actually play one event event consistant and its not a npl event but thats only cause its in my area and because on that night nothing is close by so all my players go down there and i like to go socialise with them.... people get to see me as a person have a drink with me and play cards i show no favourtism towards anyone and as a result of my social nights out the numbers at ALL my venues have risen HUGELY and i even have people follow me from venue to venue

ROSEMARY I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT ON THE NIGHT OF THAT INCIDENT THAT YOU SHOULD REPORT THAT ASAP AND MAKE SURE APPRORIATE ACTION IS TAKEN THERE AND THEN
( and i like the fact you have positive and negative comments without you on here i wouldnt have half as much stuff to write lol thanx Rosemary .. I look forward to coming up there and playing one with you *if i am allowed of course*    )

On the night in question Paul, they had their backs to us and everyone was just settling in after coming back from the break .. we did not see the draw, they just turned around with a card each and said who the people were. One we did not know the name of, but later found out is was a spouse, and the other, being only a boyfriend, a lot of people did not realise the name, so there was a little hoo haa ing ... but not too much.

our td's have drawn out 3 people on the same table before, even drawn out the same person twice ... it happens, but this was a huge coincidence, if that is what it was. for one to be redrawn would have been one things ...but for them both???

and Paul, you are welcome to come and play with us any time you want ... just like any other td is welcome to ... and we too, have played at venues only because of the td ..take out the td and we go too, but we also don't play certain venues because of the td...

is it ok to play home games or is it not npl ettiquette? please check this first as I don't want it to cause any probs (with your job etc.) ... but sure, let me know if you want me to send you info about when and where our next game is ... and feel free to come join us ... we are a fun bunch.... lol ....
