Woohoo! No "state final" - biggest misnomer ever!

Other changes look good, but only had a quick glance, so will save questions for after I've read it properly :D

You've only scrapped the name Garth, it looks the same otherwise!

Nothing wrong with that though.

Ya big jerk :P

back on topic

the proposed changes look great, a lot more variety then the regular seasons with the highlight usually only being the state finals

are all these going to be implemented Garth? or are you just seeing which ones generate the largest amount of interest from the players?

Steve,

All ideas in the proposal will be initiated.

Pete,

What State Final have you played in with a $5K start stack and 30 minute blind levels? Just out of interest. Because the prize money stays the same you think it's the same tournament? I haven't released a payout structure yet.

What if I told you the Main Event was winner take all?

You should dish out monocles as FTT's :P

I'll have a word to mum, she's really letting the team down!

All changes look great. Not sure if this will get more country players to attend as its for a whole weekend, or if less country players will attend for the same reason. I guess the attendance/qualifier ratio for the recent port club SF was lower than in previous seasons, so hopefully this will increase 'main event' runners.

Any news on the Berri deepstack? The grapevine says that the owner (simmsy) want to hold it again and increase its size to around 500 runners? Has this been confirmed with NPL? will it be a first come first booked room scenario or will FTT be used? Interesting...

I think this is a great move. Makes those top 3 spots worth a lot more and worth fighting for, even in small number events.
Garth Kay wrote:- Mid Season regional event: Week 6 of each season will see a regional event being held.
Metro regions will combine to have one large $5,000 event and other regional areas will have anywhere from $500 - $1,500 supplied in prize pools for this.
Metro event will require 3FTT's for entry, regional will only require 1FTT. These FTT's must be accumulated in the first five weeks of the season. These mid season events will be held in a different format each season; Season 1 will be a shootout format, season 2 can either be a deepstack event or partners event.

Love this idea too. It's like a Mini-Main-Event. Also gives part-time players a chance to qualify and play for something big.
Garth Kay wrote:- Venue and regional LDB prizes. All players who finish first on a venue or regional leaderboard will receive a glass trophy or nominal prize.

This has been talked about for a long time and is a great thing. Now people will have something to show for their efforts.
Garth Kay wrote:- State Finals no longer exsist, in it’s stead we will hold a seasonal NPL championship series.

o Satellite event on Sat day(must obtain 3 Final Table Tokens in the last five weeks of the season to enter). In the first two seasons for Victoria we will offer two Vic Champs ME packages and in South Australia we will offer two Adelaide ME packages.

This event will be huge! It gives chances to a lot more people as you don't now have to win a tourney to get a seat in the satellite.
Garth Kay wrote:o A $2K teams event on Sat night(Finish on the top 10 of the regional leader board and qualify for the teams event). Represent your region! All regional ldb winners are team captains. 1st - 8th play, 9th and 10th are reserves.

Awesome! The country (and B&G) region already have their own finals, but now the city regions get a chance to play for something. Love it.
Garth Kay wrote:o $25K Main Event on the Sunday (top 5 at venue, top 50 on state leader board, top 3 on regional leader board qualify). We will try and create a deepstack final for this event. 5K start stacks and 30 minute blinds are the target, but depending on venue restrictions this event might be required to be held as a flight system

Ooh deep stack... drool. Now some real poker can be played and really separate the good players from the regular players.
Garth Kay wrote:o Venue Winner Bonus (the highest placed ‘ve rrn tines $10nd es $ and 3rets $300)

Need more info on this on[.
Garth Kay wrote:- Double point weeks in Week 7 and 9. This is a possibility and we will see how much negative feedback we receive after the Double December promotion. Still up for debate. I am yet to see the outcome of this promotion in December.

A lot better idea than a full month of double points. I'd even switch week 9, to week 10 so that the top 50 leaderboard players really have to fight it out in that last week to keep their spots.
Garth Kay wrote:- I would also like to include some forum special events. Perhaps an annual deepstack or teams event but only for forum members who register their interest.

We love our forum events. Something like the Berri Deepstack needs to happen again.

All in all I think the changes are awesome. This should re-invigorate players who have felt that the NPL was getting a little repetitive and get them back on the tables. Personally I haven't played much because things were a little stale and repetitive but these changes opens up much more options for everyone and will definitely get me back on the tables in 2009.

I'd like to see an Omaha or HORSE/HOSE type forum event at some point too.
