Not only do you request it, you call the TD over if anyone causes a fuss.

So frustrating when people burn cards ahead of time! I don't really see the point and all it does is create the potential for confusion and can slow the game, another pet peeve. Although, thankfully, i've yet to see someone do what this subject is about - burning 3 cards while dealing the flop. How bizarre.

People burning ahead of time must not be aware of the reasoning behind the burn card.

It is there so you can't see the actual card that is in play, in case it is marked.

I can imagine having a board out there, with the turn & river face down, but there is an obvious mark on the river... so the person with the Ace could potentially stay in the hand, hoping the mark was on an Ace.

I questioned a burn card (or lack thereof) on Monday, where the player was burning into the muck. We counted the number of cards, and it didn't calculate, so the turn became the muck. No such issues if burning under the board.

Fair enough Garth, thanks for the clarification.

To be honest I never knew the reasoning behind the burn card, I always thought it was because its 'just a rule'.
But one night I was playing and I did pre-burn a card, ready to tun it and had it explained to me, so I never pre-burn now, simple!

Hey Bacon I must say that was a great call on your behalf and it only cements in why I place the burn cards under the exposed cards.

Des was the dealer and he was in a conversation with Mark at the time when you picked it up. "Good Call M8"

Garth can I make a suggestion.

Dakota and I had a thing going (not that sort of rhing) at Para hills for a while where he or myself would pick a topic to be included into his opening speech. Such as, no going through the muck, no rabbitting, etc and do a quick explaination as to what it meant.

It worked pretty good as you would hear people during the night say, "you can't do that, didn't you hear Dakoda's opening speech"?

My suggestion and I think I have suggested this to you before would be to pick one thing per week that the TD's must include into their opening speech.

I'm sure this posts topic regarding the burn cards not going into the much would be an excellent start.

We have plenty to do with the opening spiel Bob.
Changes will be occurring in the upcoming months.

The once per week idea was something bought forward by James several months ago. But unfortunately with all the changes and movements since then I have not been able to update staff for these changes.

No probs Garth. I just thought it would be a good time to start seeing we are regrouping the burn card issue has been a favorite of mine.

Cementing a rule for the week appeared to be a good idea as it does work not only for the punters but also keeps the TD's focussed.

You mean like all the TD's all over the state were already supposed to be doing? Even James managed to do that!

It's a great idea though, now if only people would actually shut up when the TD is speaking these things (most of which are very simple) might sink in.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
