lol pete my thoughts exactly
u may remember the original post about the seat to anywhere vs 10 grand.
i was originally in favour of the seat to anywhere, given that i would probably never get the chance to go to one of these tourneys.
but now i paid my first mortgage repayment on last friday, and boy does that change things!
but a mix of cash and a seat to a major tourney is a pretty good mix in any respects.
i am sitting on the fence with this one
What do you want?

Re: What do you want?
its got to be the 7K and a seat for me. I like the idea of being able to win my way through to massive cash tournys from my humble npl start.
It makes me feel like I can become a millionaire from free poker instead of a maximum 10K

Re: What do you want?
Earlier in the year NPL asked a similar queery of having a Package (trip for 2 to anywhere overseas plus a buyin) or cash.
We ended up with cash.
Personally, I would have prefered the package. I could never really see Donna and myself having that sort of loose cash around to go on a venture such as what was being offered.
Now, I'd go for the $10,000 cash. And that's because we are soaking as much as we can into reducing our mortgage from 15 years to around 2 1/2 years and the $10k would really help.
And maybe do as Pete suggested and play a number of other smaller events which may get you into a major tourney. And also a little something for the missus to keep her happy would be nice.
That'a assuming I will ever get close to sitting on a final table and playing for a $10k bonus. Whoohoooo!!!!
Only need a chip and a chair they say, cheers guys and gals and GL on the felt.

Re: What do you want?
Freerolling your way into a major tourny from freeroll tournys sounds very good 2 me!!!
Garth the reason people love Npl so much is that you can go and play social poker with ya mates at most pubs around and you can qualify for state finals, side promotions (aussie millions, skycity, teams events, vic championships etc.) and progress from there. Daniel Booth classic example!
I think it's gotta be the package!! cash and a seat. Yea cash is handy but how many people who won the cash would go n buy into that certain event, where as if u win cash and that seat u get the opportunity to play against some of the best players going around!!!
I would be very happy for it to be cash and a seat!!

Re: What do you want?
If everyone is so keen on the package, why would you have objections to paying the money out of your winnings? You've still "freerolled" into the seat, but you've got so much more flexibility if you've got the cash. What if you'd already won the seat some other way (not overly likely), or you've got a holiday booked or something else going on it your life and you'd like to take it next year or something????
If you're so keen on the seat, you shouldn't have any issues calling Sky City and having this conversation
you: "Can I please buy a seat to X with this big pile of cash sitting next to me?"
SC: "Certainly sir/madam, we're here to make the process of giving us money as easy as possible. Would you like fries with that?"

"Please, my Leftie friends. On no possible definition does cutting someone’s tax rate constitutute ‘giving’ them money."

Re: What do you want?
Maybe give people the option after they've won?
10k in cold hard cash, or 7k in cash and a 3.5k seat (so total is 10.5k)

That's possibly the smartest thing you've ever said Des
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
