Red playing decks

Postby Nevah play JJ » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:50 pm

Several times over the last few days, I have been part of as well as over heard alot of other players discussing the Red playing decks.

Such as
They are thinner than the Blue playing decks
They are flimsy and show fingernail marks very easily
    They are faded and marked
    They bend easily

Having said all of that, are the Blue cards coming back into circulation anytime soon?
They were awesome.

ALSO

When are the kits of the TD's going to be upgraded so as to remove all broken and cracked chips, as well as replacing all faded and marked cards.

I don't know about others, but I hate knowing there are marks on cards that mean it is a little easy to identify what cards players are holding.

Fussy, fussy, JJ!

Unmarked cards AND no cracked chips? Anyone would think you were paying for the use of this equipment ;)

NPL might just as easily ask when are us punters going to stop marking the decks whilst we riffle the cards - I know I do this sometimes (thanks Geezer) - never intentionally, but it does happen :(

LOL Rcon
How does that help?

Yeah... Nahhhh seriously, we had one night where a group of players while waiting for the opening speech were able to name most of the cards from the deck based on what the back of the card looked like and 9 times out of 10, they were right!

Even then we have nights where the decks are so sticky that often it is a misdeal because 2 cards get dealt instead of 1.

Some cards are so faded they are difficult to distinguish in the darker parts of some venues.

As for the chips, I confess, I am one of those that gets rid of the big bulky bits of blerk with my fingernail before I put them in my stack.. lol
Yes.. it is a tad obsessive.. lol
I just don't like cracked and dingy chips, that is just a "she's nuts" type of issue, plus it looks a tad unprofessional to newcomers.

Simple answer. if there are marked cards in a deck, ASK FOR ANOTHER DECK. The TD's often have plenty of spare packs.

Has worked every time for me.

What Matt said.

We don't use the red decks anymore in Gawler/Barossa, but I remember one night when we did our table had to ask for 3 new decks in 5 minutes.

I probably should have also noted JJ, that all you need to do to play with blue decks, is come play in the city

But seriously, your decks sound a little worse than I was thinking.

As for the decks being marked, we do have lotsa new ones down here, but they get marked all the time too - and because they are new, it stands out plenty.

As for using your nail on the chips - ewww, try using the edge of another chip perhaps? ;)

Mac... Does the word DUH have any meaning for you?
I hate the bloody obvious being pointed out, contrary to popular belief I am not a moron!
Of course we ask for new decks and replacement cards.

However, we do have to wait for the TD to find a second to get us the new deck or replacement card, as we watch the blind levels wither away.

We have asked for new decks and quite frankly we have been told there is a shortage out this way. That comes directly from a TD who had trouble getting his hands on some.

The blue cards were thicker and much easier to deal.

I don't think this post was at all unreasonable!

Ok.. well using the nail sounds worse than it truly is!
Using another chip only causes the edge to break and wear away.

all td's need to do is ask for replacement cards and they will be able to receive some, if they are that bad. I understand the red decks with 2 logos were pretty ordinary, and the latest replacement cards went back to blue decks.
